Massive Kudos for Bethesda Regarding Nchardak

Post » Tue Jun 18, 2013 10:32 pm

Nchardak has to be THE one and only level in any video game I've ever played with a water-level mechanic that didn't make everything hideously annoying. I've played three Zelda titles with incredibly annoying/tedious water puzzles, and when I went into Nchardak for the first time, I was like "oh god no, not one of these". But...it's not annoying! :o It doesn't make me want to throw my mouse/laptop into the nearest wall!

Bethesda sure knows what they are doing when it comes to puzzles, that's for sure

I liked it, despite being confused a little but I am not gonna judge this dungeon based on my silliness

It's even more fun when you're leaving and realized you left Mjoll behind... standing with a relaxed posture under eight feet of water.

"You know about when I asked you to remain behind?"

"Yes"

"Well drowning yourself kind of takes it too far."

"It's all right, I've got a large lung capacity. Which reminds me of when that cutpurse met me on the road..."

*Groan.*

I also really liked how Nchardak was designed, I went back later without Neloth to explore the place a bit better. There was one room in Nchardak I never got into, or at least never got into the usual way. it was behind a gate but I could never get it to open. In the end I used a wooden plate to walk through the gate only to discover I could not get out that way. The textures on the other side of the gate had not loaded properly or were missing. It had a chest in there, so presumably there was a way to get in there at some point. Although I have come across other areas else where we could not access the normal way that had enemies or pickups.
