master difficulty - broken!

Post » Wed Dec 14, 2011 4:06 pm

Ok this game is easy until you play master difficulty which is plain stupid. I know it's there to challenge player, but! I'm level 54 with 330 hp. I'm wearing nightingale armor fully upgraded to legendary. I wield two deadric swords upgraded to legendary.
Now, I encounter two forsworn bandits. One of them can two shot kill me with a bow. He's using forsworn bow with about 50 damage and of course forsworn arrow which are lame as [censored]. Now tell me how the hell can he possibly kill me in two shots?
Oh, I know how. It's master difficulty and npc get some extreme bonuses of 20x damage out of nowhere. Oh and did I mentioned that bandit is level 34. I'm 54!

Well another guy - bandit who wields two handed axes. He's also lvl 34 or something close. Again two swing-kill! WTF is that?

Another example are mages who spams the hell out of lighting chains or whatever is it. Like he's got Lightning machinegun!

Sure, I expect tough enemies on master difficulty, but throw at me lvl 60 enemy so I will know that higher lvl baniit killed me, not some half less experienced jerk then me. And they should have same damage output as player. Just give them some powerfull upgraded swords and armor, but don't give them some lame bow with even more lame arrows and expect me to believe he did 150 damage on me with one shot!

Yeah, I would like to see them playing.

I could take down those two no problem with some cheap tactics, like in beast form or something, but i don't want to. I am freaking dragoborn, I am higher lvl then they are, I have powerfull equipment so I wanna take them down in straight fight.

I love how people claim the game is broken when things don't go their way.

HEy, don't give me that crap "Others complain about X an Y". I can also type on forum I just took 3 ancients dragons on master without losing health. And you're going to believe me, because you that stupid. Show the proof or gtfo. ALso, the fact is game is broken, unbalanced. If I would use some insanely owerpowered skill for my tactis like sneak i can take down whole city without they will even know it. Or illusion magic. Yeah that way I can keep my health at 100% all the time. But I dont want to use this tactics cuz it's not fun.

Actually, I think it's broken in an entirely different way.

Normal enemies, 3 to 8 hits they die, but boss enemies kill you in 3 hits, even through your shield and you must hit them 25-35 times. Too easy, then impossible. I call that broken.

Weird. I'm level 52 using theives guild armor (legendary) 1H and archery at 100 and I have no problems with average bandits. The only ones giving me trouble are mages and dragons. Playing on master ofc.

So, this thread should really be called "master difficulty - doesn't match my own personal preferences!"

To me, "master" means you are able to play near perfectly. Hence i spent 8 hours duelling bandit bosses while wearing minimal armor so they can 1 shot me, while also dodging arrow fire, until i can take those guys down without taking a single hit more often than not. Now i feel like i "mastered" it, and i can progress on this mode reliably in a 2 shot kill situation, without spamming potions

Damn you're smart. It's not about preferences it's logic! Lets take it that way. You have 300 hp and enemy has 300 hp. Now, he's lower level. He has bow which deals 50 damage for one shot. You have a bow which deals 100 damage per shot. Now, he can kill you with two shots (while standing), but you can't kill him in not even 4 shots! Now, since you're that smart tell me does he mysteriously have 500 of arcery skill? Doesn't make sense. Thats because games are always like that. Lets give them stats above normal even if it doesn't make sense, it's just player will have some challenge.

Do I have to write it on your forehead or something? If i were using illsuion spells and sneak skills I could take down everything in the game without any problem. So no it's not too hard for me. I just don't want to play that way all the time and be super owerpowered because the're no fun in it.

Mhm, it is. You'll notice that in every single TES game, they spend a great deal of effort creating realism and immersion. Idiot. We don't exactly have http://youtu.be/-dB8wBr76Jg.

Turn the difficulty down and stop whining.

If you don't want it this way then don't play it ramped up onto the highest difficult setting.

It is designed to make the game harder.

The default difficulty setting, upon first booting the game, is how the Game is intended to be played.

If you choose to make the game harder isn't it a bit pointless to complain when it IS a bit harder?

It's not broken.

Your logic, on the other hand....?

Master difficulty is too easy, as a warrior it's possible to kill ancient dragon with 3-5 hits if you have the best equipment available and if you have been stacking resistances and hp he can never kill you... I want the game to be challenge even if you're level 50+ with the best equipment available... i still want there to be enemies that can instantly kill you, i still want there to be some VERY HARD enemies that take a lot of strategy and effort to kill.

I know Skyrim is a single player game but i still have to get this game here as a comparison: WoW
The one thing that WoW succeeds at is that there's always a challenge, you can never solo everything in the game and bosses and some enemies are very hard and require strategy. Now sure WoW is a mmorpg but is it too hard to implement such a concept to a single player game like Skyrim? Thank god for the mod support but why is it so hard for Bethesda to get some things right...

First off.... don't judge the NPCs damage by what it shows in YOUR inventory. That forsworn bow showing in your inventory is how much damage YOU do with it based on your archery skill and perks, not how much someone else will. NPCs have perks too and a fully upgraded archery tree adds significant damage to bows.

Second.... complaining that the hardest difficulty is too hard is just plain childish. If you don't enjoy it on Master, then don't play it on master.... its really that simple. Others are enjoying master level just the way it is. I myself prefer expert, but I certainly wouldn't want them to "fix" a difficulty level and destroy others enjoyment simply so that I can feed my ego by saying I played it on the hardest. Turn it down.

I'll explain.

Hardest difficulty in the game = hard.

If you don't like that, switch your difficulty down.

The End.

I know it shows my damage output. But my Archery is 100 and i have all damage perks for it, so what shows in my invertory is highest damage for that waapon which means NPCs shouldn't do more damage then that, unless like I said they can surpass 100 archery skill.
