Glass armor is too goofy to allow in a TES game, but I would attack it with baseballs, so it would sound like a window breaking.

Glass is a mineral, nothing to do with real life glass. Remember glass mines in Morrowind?

i like the idea alot! it would really add more depth to the game, make it a bit more challenging.
