I can't believe people still buy into that trite nonsense. Only amateurs break things down into several categories and assign arbitrary numbers to each of them (likely pulled out of their own ass). What makes a game isn't it's graphics. Or the music. But how the developers blended them all together to create an enjoyable experience. A game might not have ultra photo realistic graphics. So why punish it even if it was still beautifully done to fit the style and direction the game was aiming for? One game might not even have any music at all. So your focus easily shifts to the atmospheric sound effects of it's world. Etc
So you're basically saying that the Oscar's amateur? There's a "The best movie award" but that's only one prize, all the other prizes are categorized by music, best outfits, etc. And yes, it's the same, because you can say that same about movies. [MOVIE] isn't it's graphics. Or the music. But how the developers blended them all together to create an enjoyable experience." See the resembles?
It has to be categorized, and I don't really think you know how it works... so... you know, ask around professional reviewers sites and you'll see for yourself.
EDIT: And by the way, I don't know if you know this or not, but these categories are ALSO about how it all fits together, if the graphics are dark and the music is happy, you'll see it in the review, and the score will degrade accordingly.
