No matter how good the game is, it shouldn't get a perfect 1

Post » Sat Jul 03, 2010 2:34 pm

When you look down you have no legs. That is my biggest problem with 90% of all First-person games. The only ones I can think that have that are Halo, Mirror's Edge, Crysis, and maybe Bulletstorm. I hate it so much. Hell, I'd love it if when you look down you see you chest, all the way down to your feet. Most people don't care about this, but this is all the realism I need in any FP game.

inb4 don't look down. jog on.

What? I understand you disagree, but the other part...?

So you rather not see your legs and feel like floating blob...whatever floats your boat....or your character in this case.

For me, id only like to see legs and crap like that if i take a hard fall if i get knocked down in heavy combat, something like that similar to mirrors edge. I dont want to always be able to see them though.

I hope they implement this, but I don't think they will based on what I saw from the trailer (just a hunch.) Seeing your legs adds to the realism and Halo 3 had it for christ's sake. I don't understand why other people wouldn't like it.

And please, don't tell me that Halo 3 is a different game, I'm aware of that, but that doesn't give Beth an excuse to not implement something like this. Hell, they have teams that work on animations/art and such for a reason, if you can add it into a FPS, I'm sure you can add it into an RPG.

it becomes an issue if you are trying to look for somthing on the ground near your feet, but I don't think it would really harm the game for me if they did this. if it is aweful there will be a mod to get rid of it so. power to yah, glad to hear some one not demanding fun breaking realism's for a change.

How does finding an object become an issue? If you're standing on it, just move back a foot and there ya go..

I won't buy the game if the Dragonborn turns out to be blind.

On the list of "things I'm worried about," being able to look down in first person and see legs is pretty much near the dead bottom of my list. I couldn't care less.

Graphics nitpicks would never downgrade a score for me anyway, unless they are glaring. Trivial things to me like "too much bloom" or "can't see legs when in first person" I couldn't care less about.

Heck, I hate the "everything is brown and gray" trend in this generation of games (which thankfully it looks like Skyrim will avoid) but I wouldn't even downgrade a score over that boring (in my opinion) design.

Still looks desaturated. I'm hoping for a color mod so I can fully enjoy the beauty of Skyrim.

If the legs look good:Great, I'll take it, if they are low-res as espected because of the hardware limitations on consoles - keep that [censored].

Agreed!!! to deny a game a perfect score over if you can see you legs in FP view is just a total lack of focus on the important issues, and a little bit of an ego for thinking that just because its a big deal to you, you think everyone else is gunna think the same thing so you dumb down it's score (you score games on a basic relevent catogory of things that just about every game can be put under). If you can get at least 50 people to agree with you on this thread that it deserves a score bump over not seeing your legs then i might change my view, but i think your chances are very slim my friend.

But... i do think seeing parts of your body would be immersive and would also come together nicely with being able to see your shadow cast on the ground as im assuming FP view can do this time around( todd has said the whole world has dynamic lighting and shadows).

It's easy to implement and it actually does add quite a bit to the experience for me. In Oblivion I felt like a pair of floating hands. Hell, if I used the free camera toggle in the console I could see that this was literally true. In Dark Messiah of Might and Magic, however, I actually felt like I was taking up space in the world, all because of some simple body awareness. It's a little thing, true, but the little things count.

That's like giving a Zelda game a lower score because Link has a circle for a shadow.

The only reason I don't really care about this is because I mostly play in 3rd person.

Though I can see how this would be a pain in the leg if I played a lot in 1st person.

Bethesda would really be shooting themselves in the foot to not implement this feature.

I dunno, I've played games that were pretty much as perfect as they can get...
But thats only if you recognize their scope, their theme, and their limitations...
Then again, thats hardly relevant.

I like being able to see my legs. Maybe thats why I'd rate most halo games as a 10/10...
But i won't be too upset if we don't have it. TES usually offers so much.

Bethesda should try to stand above the rest and implement this unique feature.

I guess you just have to make the call. . . .

Is it just a game, or is the player character REALLY physically deformed enough to look down and not see any part of their body at all, yet appear normal in third person?

I don't really care either way, but maybe the reason they won't do it is because all of the different armors can't be programmed easily to not drastically clip when you look at your legs or something.
