Mass Effect was banned in a couple countries and I am sure that others were too.
Mass Effect was banned in Singapore and it wasn't because of the six scene itself but because it was lisbian. Never mind that all this was completely up to the player. They could chose to play as a male, pursue one of the other romances or not do it at all. It isn't banned any longer though.
You think that Oblivion is not fit for a 12 year old? I have been playing the series since when Morrowind GOTY first came out. I am only 14 now so what does that say? Should I not play Skyrim?
No i don't think a 12 year old should play games like Morrowind and Oblivion, just like i don't think they should play Grand Theft Auto. It's advlt games and was not intended for children. As for you and Skyrim, that's hard to say. I don't know you, some 14 year old is more mature than others and i also think there is a difference between being 12 and 14 but as a finger rule, no i think you should be atleast a few years older. But as i said, for all i know you could be more mature than most 16 year olds so it's not that easy to say. But you are telling me that you can't see anything wrong with a 7 year old playing Morrowind?
I don't think you understand that just because a game is rated M it doesnt meant that people younger than 17 will not play it.
Oh i understand completely. Ofcause they are gonna play it, just like they are gonna watch movies they shouldn't. I was also a child once. But that's not Bethesdas problem. I think i was 8 when i watched Stephen Kings IT. I had nightmares the next six months. Still... it was totally worth it.
What if you were 12 when Skyrim comes out? Would you be like: "Oh! I am too young! I better stay away from this one!" Or would you get your parents to go to the store and buy it with you so that you can play it? Think logically in the eyes of someone under 17.
Ofcause i would. That's the way children is. They don't know what's good for them. That's why parental rights and responsibilities exist.
But that's not my problem, and it's not Bethesdas problem. I don't want a child friendly game just so everyone can enjoy it. Yes i know, i am very selfish.
The ERSB, PEGI and what else they are called, exist to guide, to give the parents an idea about what kind of game they are holding in their hands. The final decision is theirs to make. They know their children and should be able to judge whatever that kind of content is appropriate.
Besides, I am only saying that actual six has no reason to be in video games, it doesnt add to the immersion
And all i am saying is that i disagree.
and it doesnt help sell it in counties that censor lots of media.
So the solution is to bow for cencorship? If everyone think like that, games will never get the same accept as movies and books.
