Is anyone else experiencing this bug and is there a fix for this???

I can't get the "Dampened Spirits" quest because Maven won't talk to me. Its driving me nuts. I wanted to complete the Thieves Guild storyline but I guess I'm screwed?!?!?

I'm stuck here too. I've completed the Civil War questline, and just finished Loud And Clear. But Maven will not open the dialogue box, and the next quest didn't spawn after talking to Brynjolf. I went to UESP, and it said this questline can be bugged by breaking into Honningbrew Meadery before receiving Dampened Spirits, or by not asking what Maven wants when speaking to Brynjolf. I'm going to retry, and only losing 2 hours, but I fear I may be screwed, too. Any other thoughts on this?

The quest won't appear for me either! I talked to Brynjolf after finishing loud and clear, but this quest never popped up, when I talk to Maven, no special dialogue is there!

i have the same problem too, it's really unfortunate because i have a level 51 archer/stealth character and would kill to be able to play the rest of the thieves guild & whatever else it brings. I haven't played skyrim in a few weeks mainly because of the lag issues but i'd even deal with the lag if they can fix this quest glitch as the thieves guild is my favorite faction in the game.

Thieves Guild was what I really wanted to do...........but Dark Brotherhood is what I'm settling for. Trying my best to just act like Thieves Guild doesn't even exist and failing badly. I would so much prefer to be doing Thieves Guild but whatever......I can do nothing about it and Bethesda doesn't seem to care. I am torn. I love alot of the gameplay but the amount of bugs in this is crazy and I've always been a PS3 guy never even once thought about going over to Xbox but this has made me question maybe PS3 is not as good as Xbox?

I'm afraid this has nothing to do with the platform. Only PC version has the advantage of posiibility of using the command console so you can skip the unavailable quest by typing "setstage TG04 1".

SAME stupid problem! I'm very frustrated... I sat for 3 days doing side quests for Delvin and Vex thinking Brynjolf will eventually give me dialogue for "Dampened Spirits". My quest log is literally filled with complete side jobs, I want to say I counted at least 70 completed... I was really dissatisfied to find out it was a break in the quest line bug with Maven Black-Briar... They need to fix this! Unacceptable!!!!!!!! If there's any news on a patch or something please let me know!

Me too. Problem is if you already turned in loud an clear you probably won't ever get souls to start. Your only chance is if you hold off on turning it in. When a fix comes having loud and clear as an active quest will help. If you turned it in you will probably never be able to finish the guilds quests. It's happening on all platforms because of breaking into that one place you get frost from. It's a shame really.

the problem is not that u can't finish the quest line, but the problem is if ! u will finish it.. u will get a trophy

if this bug will not be fix a have to start over again from level 1 with a new player

Dampened Spirits worked fine for me but I have not gone near the Civil War questline.

i still have several glitches and bugs at this time, even after latest patch

i can't buy a house in wind helm, due to glitch with starting "Blood on the Ice" STILL BROKEN
i can't get into Heimskr's house to plant items or steal items in Thiefs Guild job's, because i have completed "war on whiterun" STILL BROKEN
i have several completed tasks/missions/quests in my Journal that won't clear STILL BROKEN
i have items i can't remove from my items menu, even after quest is completes the item weren't taken by the quest giver STILL BROKEN

i also have tasks like "Kill Parthnnax" and a few others just disappear from my journal even though i haven't done them STILL MISSING

i have current misc quests i can't complete as they have already been done and have not reset/respawned yet
eg: "Kill leader of Uttering hills", "kill dragon on Mount Anthor" and the one that has been there for ages
"speak to Verulus about the Hall of the Dead" i did that quest weeks ago in real time and probably months ago in Skyrim time 3x STILL BROKEN

i really hope you can get all these fixed otherwise there isn't much more i can do in the game as i can't move forward much more with all these things blocking me from doing other things

Onto the good news

the latest patch fixed the thief's guild for me, so have been able to complete that finally

Dampened Spirits wont start for me either. Level 55 200hrs in I aint gonna restart just for one quest line, still it was my favorite quest.

mine fixed iteself, as soon as i loaded in after new patch first thing game did was activate this mission

It also started for me finally! I was in shock when 'dampened spirits' popped up after loud and clear was finished. I had tried so many different times that I really did not believe the patch was going to fix this but it did. It's odd because I'm seeing a ton of people who say its still not working for them.
