Is it good to max your character out completely? how hard would the enemies be? i finished the game a while back and I was not even close to being maxed out I was level 34 .......what are the good points on being maxed out? what are the bad points?

Maxing out your character really has no point in Oblivion. Loot scaling stops at lvl 20-25 and enemies just become harder and harder to kill since they level up when you do. If you build your character wrong when leveling up that means they get stronger while you actually get weaker, and there′s no extras to look for in chests at lvl 40 compared to lvl 25ish.
On the plus side you get more health, magicka and fatigue, how much depends on how you level up. But this really is not a big plus if you ask me when facing that other stuff.
There are some quests that require that you are at a certain level, but those are all fairly low.

I′m lvl 50 and I don′t really feel stronger than when I was at lower levels and I really focused on combat and magic

Your enemies are scaled constantly to match your level (though what the game considers to be "matched" can be pretty far off at times), so it wouldn't make a bit of difference in that regard.

Can't really see anything bad about being Master of the Universe other than being totally immersion-breaking.

I almost always max out my characters. I just can't bring myself to not have all of my majors at 100. However I do try to make my character level slowly but I always max out and I would definitely recommend it.

The only skill I need is one that involves a big hammer and an opponent's head.

I find maxing too many things out makes the game too easy for my taste. I prefer to focus on some attributes and skills and go out of my way to completely ignore others. It helps me build a character that is more focused/spcecialized and vulnerable - and I like that.

My current character for example is a scrawny wood elf, so naturally she has base endurance and strength and is too weak to ever use a melee weapon or wear much armor. She's pretty good with a bow and magic though, and does just fine.

This is the trouble with the current leveling system.

I use a mod that stops the leveling completely and I have to max out my character if I'm going to stand a chance in Oblivion Gates or up against Vampires and the last few quests in the guilds.

That doesn't mean that leveling up to max can't be fun in the vanilla game though. I did max a character on my Xbox game but it was hard going. I find the best way for me on the Xbox is to make some rules that make the game harder.

The thing is that your leveling up must be partly contributed by the that of your major battle skills, not social ones.

Max level is only hard when you are encountering MANY enemies at once... as melee anyway. Max level and max difficulty were handled by my melee character by making good use of alchemy. Make a bunch of slightly different poisons and they will all stack when applying them on a target. Any enemy dies in seconds.... but the problem arises when swarmed you do not have time to apply poisons to everything. :(
