I believe the maximum is probably somewhere in the mid-fifties for most characters.

But there's no point in going that high. Enemies stop leveling in the low 20's. Before you have reached level 30 you're already a god.

You don't have to edit the enemy stats--just play in a way that feels natural, and forget about spamming spells, etc. Unlike Oblivion and Skyrim, you won't fall behind if you work on Speechcraft and the like for a few levels. Morrowind's a tougher game in many respects, but leveling isn't one of them.

You can look at this many different ways......

- Most characters are really powerful at level 30... beyond that you start to become too powerful. (although the Tribunal & Bloodmoon expansions can still be a challenge)

- Most people play a character to about level 35-40, and then it becomes difficult to level up anymore, and the game gets much too easy.

- The legitimate cap is somewhere near level 75-78 (depending on how you pick your Skills)

- The technical cap is around level 65535.... and then the game just stops calculating stats.

Probably because of my choice of skills I found it extremely hard not to level up. I can easily level up two times in one sitting and I don′t even practise my skills that hard, I just walk around and defend me against whatever I meet.

Currently at lvl 51 and I am in no way near capping my major or minor skills.

Interesting. I think I'm gonna have to do an entire almost remake of the game in a sense.
