Maxing My Gamerscore

Post » Tue May 17, 2011 5:35 am

I need one more achievement to max my Oblivion gamerscore but it would take me a couple hours to get it and I just need tip to speed it up. I need to redo the Shivering Isles to get the achievement for becoming the Duke of Mania and when I originally did the Shivering Isles I didn't have the foresight to save before like I usually do. So any suggestions on how to get it over with quickly because I've done Shivering Isles plenty and I never really liked it as much.

Perhaps just don't play it and don't get the achievement because, you know, you didn't like SI as much??

Well I liked it I just didn't like it as much as the main game. And I have to get the achievement because I'm kind of an achievement [censored] lol :celebration:

Well there's no shortcuts that you can take, you have to do all the quests to get to the point of choosing where to be duke of. So it's either spend several hours of your life doing something you don't really enjoy to get an achievement, or just not getting it.

Lol I'd take the former if it means boosting my score. I don't really care because after I'm done with the main SI questline I'll do some of the side quests in it which I actually kinda enjoyed because all the people are totally insane

What you could have done is made a save during your first playthrough and redone it there and then just for the achievement, but if not then I'm afraid you'll have to go through it again. Sorry bro, you're just gonna have to face the madness for those extra G's! :P

I don't buy a football game just for the Gs (I hate football BTW) if you hate SI (and I dont see who would) then don't play it.

I had in my first post that I didn't have the foresight to make a save during my first playthrough. I know anything for the gamerscore :twirl:

Well I got the GOTY edition so it was free dlc, and I do like the towns and the overall atmosphere and enemies, I just don't like the main story of SI.

I'm the same way with games I really like and with Oblivion I had already played on my old profile and
beat the game, so when I got a new profile I got all the achievements in a particular order. First I beat
the main story in a straight shot, the I did each of the guilds, the arena, and the brotherhood one at a
time in a straight shot, then finally completed the shivering isles, even going so far as to get each of
the duke achievements back to back then completing the rest of the story line.

I actually haven't maxed out any of my games, but if I will it'll probably be Oblivion first. I've gotten pretty close to maxing it on Fable 2, Fallout 3, and a couple others.

I don't understand what the point of trying to get a higher gamerscore, it's not like you get anything for it (except maybe bragging rights), you just waste time trying to do things like collect ridiculous amounts of collectibles or perform repetitive actions in an effort to get a higher number, seems like they only do it to make people keep playing or replay games that have no other replay value. Ranting aside you'll just have to do the quest again and make the other choice unless you have a save from before you did that part.

I like gamerscore even though I know a lot of people don't. You could argue that there is no point to collecting titles and skins and stuff in online games but I like achievements for the exact reason you said. It makes you want to replay a game so you get more for you money. Some people don't like it, but having over 10,000 GS makes you feel so beast compared to your friends who only play CoD and have 500 or something. But I'm just going to replay it also because I like the sweet armor they have in SI :)

Well I don't try to get most of those stupid achievements out there, such as collecting certain items or w/e. But
with Oblivion it is actually very easy to get all the achievements, you just have to complete the game and
each faction so you are not doing anything extra in order to get max GS for the game.

Yeah I hope they keep it like that in Skyrim because I hate games that have tiny, hard to get achievements and has a bunch of them. I'm looking at you orange box with your 99 achievements :brokencomputer:

Yeah it would be nice, I wouldn't mind a couple of different achievements kinda fallout style for completing certain big misc quest or something.

Yeah that would be nice as well, but only as long as they do not have one for the max level, because I do not like those that most ppl will never get.
