Maybe Elder Maxson is Right

Setting aside emotion. Given the advantages that Synths, particularly Gen 3 Synths, have over humans. Perhaps they really do represent an existential threat to humanity. How many passive Synth faces conceal thoughts of ascendance above humanity.

Humans have to sleep.

Ahem Gen 3 Synths are not rly that diferent from humans basicly what they are is slightly cybernetily augmented humans(that are made). I mean even if two Gen3 wud procreate and concive a child the child wud be human not synth.

If you could cybernetically enhance a human being not to sleep, do they become not human?

As Stryfe pointed out in one of the X-men comics, "Humans have ever reason to fear being replaced by mutants. They, however, forget that when they are replaced they will be replaced by their own children. Which is the destiny of all mortals anyway."

I am not, in this post, debating their humanity or personhood. But does the threat exist for Homo Syntheticus to replace Homo Sapiens?

Is their any game based information on their ability to procreate, biologically? If so I would say the Institute was very lax in their production standards.

I wouldn't say he's wrong, but he's not entirely right either. He's a zealot. An extremist.

He's (negatively) judging an entire group based on the actions of a (relative) few. Worse, he's relating it to a past horror (basically a slippery slope argument) as a way to stir emotion and rally others. What he's missing is the good that some synths have done - hell, he's not just missing it, he outright refuses to see it.

I still support the Brotherhood despite his shortcomings.

You know with all this talk that synths are physically superior to humans and are therefore a threat that needs to he exterminated is like saying any animal stronger than a human is a threat and needs to be wiped out.

Possibly but the issue is moot because that presupposes Homo Sapiens are particularly valuable over Homo Neanderthalus or Erectus.

Versus, just different stages in the same race.

Weren't the homo neanderthalensis a separate evolutionary branch, rather than a stage of the homo sapiens? That got wiped out, one way or another, because it ultimately didn't fit as well as we did?

No they died out because we wiped them out, either intentionally killing them or accidentally gave them diseases they weren't used to.

Well, that's what I said, right? Got wiped out because they lacked something we had that let us survive, be it power or better immunity.

Maxson is wrong like Paladin Danse said. It's not the weapon which doe bad things, it's the human who uses it. I would have liked the Institute as a Synth only Faction which acts like Maxson but wants to transform organic live and not Technology into Synths for the Greater Good.

Than by that logic synths have every right to exterminate us since we lack many survival abilities they have.

Actually, it's a bit more complicated than that as after decades of argument, they finally got the DNA proof neanderthals interbred with us and then disappeared through [censored] the way most extinctions SHOULD go.

:)

Clearly Paladin Danse and Curie shall be the vanguard for this method of exterminating humanity.

Bow-chicka-bow-wow.

True, and that's also why we should exterminate them while we still have the upper hand.

I'm sad we lost the Skill set because now I can't make an Intelligence 10 EMPEROR SCIENTIST.

Is this a trick question? It's not an argument of "what's so great" as much as it is self-preservation. If synths existed IRL and tried to push us out of existance, we'd fight back because we are humanity. You're defending a race that, in this hypothetical situation, wants to eliminate you. [censored] them.

Not sure it applies here. In a humans vs synths scenario, it absolutely makes the most sense to wipe them out while they're still weak and relatively few in number.

Honestly, after the completion of Blind Betrayal, I can't agree with Maxon's stance. A Synth, upon finding out that he is a synth, doesn't beg for his life, or try to convince me that he's changed. He simply asks that I do what I've been ordered to do. He dies by the same moral code he lived by. No exceptions are asked for, no compromises made. To me, that synth has more honor and integrity than any number of people in the Brotherhood, and any number of actual humans, whether in-game or in real life. So no, I don't believe that all Synths need to be wiped out.

Sure, but the question is, would it be one if we let the synths be, and they eventually replaced us, or if we attempted to exterminate them, and they rallied against us? Either approach possibly leads to the destruction of humanity, hence why it's better to nip the problem in the bud. There's not that many synths around yet, so better to destroy the Institute utterly - no evacuation - and wipe out the remaining synths. Problem solved.

Is it ever confirmed that gen 3 synths can procreate?

I've been trying to find that out as well...

When it came to building the synths, the mechanical parts of the G3 basically boil down to a component in their brain, which is interfaced into their nervous system.

All I know is they can convincingly attempt to procreate, based on the accounts of a few NPCs. Wether or not either six can conceive from it is a mystery.
