Maybe a stupid question, Screenshots how?

Post » Sat Apr 02, 2011 6:25 am

My normal way of taking screenshots as I do in most games is to just do PrtScn on my keyboard, then go to Paint and paste.
But with Oblivion that does not seem to work. A friend also tried it and same story.

How can I take a screenshot in Oblivion, is there a trick to it or is it stored somewhere else? (I want to send my friend a screenshot of what my char looks like)

Go to My Documents\My Games\Oblivion, open up Oblivion.ini, find bAllowScreenShot=0 and change it to 1.

While in VTM:B all you have to do is push a button within the game to take a screenie. Beth, why complicate things?
And I have to mention deletion of spells and saves. In Morrowind you could delete spells but not saves within the game. In Oblivion it was the other way around and one question remains.
Why not have both features!?

Sorry, off track there. Had to get it out :whistling:

 I can't find the "Screenshots 101" thread these forums had once upon a time.

That's basically it. Just don't forget to disable your anti-aliasing in the game (under Options>Video, I think). If AA is enable, screenshots are automatically disabled, even if enabled through the .ini file.

Maybe they'll take more notice if you put that in one of the Skyrim forums? ;)

Edit: where the pictures are stored may depend on which operating system you have (Windows). Regarding AA, you can still enable it through your graphics' card control panel, but it has to be disable in the Oblivion game itself for screenshots to work.

If you want to use AA and still want to take screenshots download http://FRAPS.com and use it instead of the in game screenshooter --- The free version works fine and you can also take short videos if you want with it - plus you can decide where you want them saved so avoids problems with the game wanting to save them to your Program FIles folder and VISTA\Win7 not wanting to allow you to write to that folder !

Do you mean the "Taking Screenshots 101" post in the General Forum Information thread pinned at the top of the forum? You can still find it if you scroll down a few posts. It's just that the link in the first post is broken, for some reason.

My guess is they have figured that out by themselves and will have both in Skyrim. At least I hope.. :shakehead:

Yeah, that sounds like the one. Thanks. :) I knew it was a pinned thread, but could exactly remember where it was.
