maybe you BECOME a dragon in the end?

It would be silly to thrust an entirely new game play style onto the player for just one moment.

I think it would be cool to transform into a dragon, heck they could even keep it as an option after the MQ is done. Its a game of choice and if I choose to turn into a dragon after I have defeated all the others, what does it matter? You don't have to use the transform thing, I can't help but think it would be awesome. Of course then we will run into the the whole CSA arguments Fallout 3 had where even though people can choose whether or not to use it, the whole option is just an insult to them.

Anyways I would like it.

It would be kool it is turns out your are Alduin in the end - all the dragons trying to kill you know this and that is why them have been scouring skyrim for you.

You are a demi-god, turned god in the end and you devour the world - game over

oh for the love of the nine...

which part of we can continue playing after beating the main quest did you not understand?

also, why would the dragons be trying to stop alduin... they SERVE him!

everything about your post makes no sense at all... i dont mean to sound harsh, but come on... :shakehead:

I too thought over that, but realized that with so many things happening in the game, you could technically have trainings for it throughout the main quest. Every time you reach a certain magical point you get a premonition of a dragon, living through its movements for a moment. It's like how in The Witcher 2... Wait, that's too recent to spoil. How about like in Paper Mario 2 where you take control of Bowser? Of course it would be played straight, but it gives you a perspective and allows you to learn more about dragons and their culture.

it does indeed say that in the lore, but the lore refers mostly to the dragons of Akavir. While it is believed the surviving Akavir Dragons fled to Tamriel, the dragons in Skyrim are a Nordic off-shoot, possessing the Shout abilities that are similar to Nordic Tongues, who already use Shouts, although not in the Dragon Language. It is possible that Nordic Dragons possess a Shapeshifting Shout, but unlikely.

The Dragons in Skyrim are summoned by Alduin.
Like Daedra.

That's still extremely silly.
I don't want to play dream segments.

We all have separating opinions it seems. I wouldn't find that silly whatsoever. I'm extremely interested to see what they will do with the dragon language and culture, whether or not they will anthropomorphize dragons, and if there are ulterior motives to eating everything in time and space. That's not silly to me at all, and it would be a great gameplay way to segway into later segments.

You can do all of those things without forcing the character to become something he does not wish to be.

They're different design philosophies. Given that Elder Scrolls is all about variety which many people said was lacking in Oblivion, I don't think it would be out of place to have these sections in the game in order to add some flare (teehe, pun) towards the main quest. Again, we're on two different planes here of what we find entertaining.

I'd prefer being able to summon a dragon while not being able to turn into one. Let's leave the turning into something to werewolves and vampires, I'd say.

Since it's stated that we have a "Call Dragon" shout where we call a dragon to help us, which means there will be dragon on dragon fights, I can imagine that at the end we could get a shout for transforming ourselves into a dragon. The gameplay could be similar like "Divinity 2: Ego Draconis", where your character gets the same ability.

Of course it wouldn't be permernent...no idea how that came up.

I would rather play an all around good game, in every facet, with developers who could make the whole being a dragon experience actually work.

That would be a huge surprise but I would much rather not turning into a Dragon. It would feel like you are fighting fire with fire.

Turning into a Dragon so you can fight one. eh? Not my cup of tea.

My money is (as I have said in a few other threads) on you turning out to be Aludin, in a twist not to disimilar from KOTOR

You have to somehow destroy the dragon soul within yourself to prevent Aludin from returning. Your attempts fail and he returns, you then proceed to have the most epic of epic battles.

Really? You would possibly overlook every other aspect of the game you might like just because of that? I find that either hard to believe or incredibly selfish and close-minded to the extreme.

thing is the sheer gimmickyness of it would overshadow any good thing the game has to offer to me thus making me not want to buy it except for the sake of having another game in the series.but then again i rarely do the main quest in any elder scrolls game so it might not make a difference.

It does not matter. Any number of things in the game can be considered gimmicky when you think about it hard enough, what is important is how it is handled and presented.

You can't KNOW that. You're saying that there's absolutely no possible way in the entirety of gaming design that would make it not gimmicky? That's just... Do you even play games? Besides, why does "gimmick" have to mean "horrible trait which adds nothing"? Because it doesn't.

...

THEN WHY ARE YOU COMPLAINING?

I'd rather see the PC become the avatar of Shor and have its heart ripped off, only for Alduin to be banished again.

Too predictable imo. Also, I would rather we end up winning by our character's own merits instead of relying on being another incarnation of a character we might not even really care about like in Morrowind.
