[WIPz] MCA Companions Enhanced

I created a version that is compatible with MCA 6.1. You can get it https://www.yousendit.com/download/RlRxWUh0RkVrYUEwTVE9PQ. The link is good until Jan. 16, 2011. If you ignore the error messages, you may also use it with MCA 6.0.


I've been playing with this and found a couple of issues -

- it appears it messes with the companions inheriting the spells I cast. I had to turn it off entirely due to this
- it claimed to "level" the level 5 Marianne de Castor (from Seyda Neen) twice, neither time doing anything other than reducing her Health from 74 all the way down to 1 (yes, one).
- it appears to be messing with CM Partners levelling....the CM partner I have has dropped to level 0 (zero). No other damage, and some stat gain for this one.

I think its getting confused, seeing the CM Partner level, and messing with the MCA partner. Not entirely sure though.

The spell inheritance is a dealbreaker. You can't fly anywhere, the MCA companion continually falls, then jumps back up, falls, etc until she ends up splatting.

Thanks for the report. I suspect that you tried this mod with a game in progress because I've experienced the leveling, stats and spell issues when the variables in the new script don't align properly with the NPC's variables in the save game. It may work better when you start a new game or it may be that the mod, which was written for MCA 5.2, won't work correctly with MCA 6.x. I am working on version 2 of the mod which should correct these problems. I don't know what's going on with the CM Partners. It may be that something got into the mod that doesn't belong there. I'll check.

An update. I went back and tested several save games. The CM Partner leveling works fine without this turned on. With it turned on, it tells me I've leveled that companion, but it changes the level to zero. Stats increase properly.

The spell inheritance definitely doesn't work for custom spells. It might work for built-in spells, but not custom. The custom race I play with has a custom "Flying" spell that the MCA companion inherits with the default setup, and doesn't with your mod.

I have to correct myself about the MCA leveling though. It never has leveled an MCA character. It should give me some forced dialogue from what I'm reading, and that has never happened. She's only one level behind me now, whereas the CM partner was 3 levels behind (she was the one leveled)

Interestingly enough...I've got the spell inheritance working with the mod. I rebuilt my merged objects and it started working.

Will update if I see a change

Interesting. If AMC messes with the CM Partners leveling system, the opposite may happen too.
Could the false level up messages I reported while testing the MCA 5.2 version of AMC be caused by some conflict with the Partners scripts? As previously mentioned, all my testing was done with Baron’s Partners loaded.
