basically he wont talk to me it just makes that invalid sound when u press a randomly.
also does any1 no of a way to get a patch for 360 without live?

There is no way to download a patch for the 360 if you don't have Live.

You don't need a gold membership to download patches. A silver membership will do.

If you don't have a router you can connect your xbox to your PC via internet connection sharing to download the patch.

As for McNamara not speaking to you it sounds like another one of those random glitches to add to the ever growing list. Were you stripped to your underwear and forced to follow a Paladin at gunpoint to speak with him? And now you can't speak with him at all? Did you atleast get the explosive collar on your neck and told to do a specific quest for them?

ive done the whole quest just need to finish and i wil not be able to update because i cannot acces live in any way from this xbox

also ive just recruited veronica and she walked all the way to the bos bunker on her own and is standing in front of mcnamara now

Did you agree to work for a certain Paladin named Hardin?

Did you do what he asked in order to unseat Mcnamera from his position of Elder. If so wait a couple days or a week. Do another quest or go explore. Make sure you're not in the Bunker for this time period. Come back later and you may see Hardin in Mcnamera's robes and in his seat.

The BoS questline is bugged. I can't remember the particulars of how the bug pops up, but it has to do with telling Hardin about "The chain that binds". In my game I waited 2 weeks (using the wait feature) and still no dice. The questline broke for me. It's upsetting because I didn't get the ending I wanted, but it didn't keep me from progressing and finishing the main story (thank TPTB).
