The ship cut through the waters easily, the surf ridding up in splashing crests to lather the hull in salt and seaweed. Just above the reach of the sea's breaks, at the very bow of the ship, was the dark form of a man, ridding where a decorative carving usually was placed. Leading the ship onward was an Imperial, clad in dark black leather pants and a sleeveless leather tunic. His hands -grimy, dirt smeared and greasy, with nails chipped and yellowed, and pointed slightly like claws- were grasping the railing, holding him fast to the deck while his leather boots planted themselves on the hull. His entire torso leaned forward over the sea, head looking forward and back hunched, his behind resting on the wooden bow. In the light of the day as they sailed, the silver katana on his back gleamed, but the wakizashi at his side was hidden in the shadow of the ship.
As was the large buckle on his belt, a wolf's head. The sun beat on his military cut black hair as hazel eyes stared hard out to sea, out before them, glowering yet steadfast in their gaze. His mouth was set in a grim frown, lower lip and jaw protruding with thought, and only stretching the four parallel scar lines on his left cheek.
This man was Norien Histran, near legendary Demon Hunter of the lands of Tamriel, and confirmed Lycanthrope. He knew this likely unnerved many of the crewmen and his 'companions', having a confirmed werewolf. But that was only one reason for his being at the bow of the ship, nose filled with the salty sea air. He wondered how many knew of the vampire currently residing on the vessel, ancient and powerful. He could smell him; that horrid, putrid stench of grave dirt and congealed, decayed blood. So he opted not only to avoid the rabble the Empire hired, but the stench of that Vampire, and inhale the sea air instead.
And easily remove any sickness, as well. Norien shook his head violently, shaking off the remains of his most recent bile purge.
He hated teamwork. He hated normal people. He hated vampires.
And he hated naval expeditions.
