Haven't revised the list yet. Do you have any recommendations for mechs and skills? I didn't know about the skills.

Skills in X/Y are
X = Gunnery, This means what is your pilots gunnery skill, all modifiers to hit are added here: Gunnery 3 + attacker ran (2) + target in light woods (1) + medium range (2) = to hit roll 3 + 2 +1 + 2 = 7
Y = Pilotting, When ever pilot is forced to make piloting skill roll.

Common Capellan Mechs:

Vindicator
Cataphract
Catapult
Thunderbolt
Raven
UrbanMech
Phoenix Hawk
Spider
Hunchback
Wasp
Stinger

Since you are part of mercenary unit, you can use almost any design avaible at that time.
Check the link to Technical Readout: 3025. it shows alot of designs what are avaivable.

Or does someone else want to play with 18000 BV unit?

They most likely won't. Remember that S&T aren't making the reboot, only helping with it. Piranha Games are the ones making it. As others mentioned on Mektek, the downsizing was likely due to the ending of a project. Its just like when the holidays roll around. Stores will hire extra personnel to help with the rush, and then fire all those not worth keeping once its over.

We can try to wait for a 4th player. If not, I think I wouldn't mind playing an 18000 BV unit.

Yeah. I hope they finish the game. But you never know.
I'm not sure about next weekend if I can play. But we might start this next week if I can find PC with internet for the weekend

If you want you can take my AFFS force as part of your current unit. I tried to keep it as close Davion unit type as possible.
But remember. No Davion unit is complete if there is no Valkyries, Wolfhounds, Javelins or Enforcers! :D

Campaign setting: http://www.sarna.net/wiki/4th_Succession_War - http://www.sarna.net/wiki/Operation_Rat#The_Capellan_Front_.3D.3E_Operation_Rat_.28Fedsun_offensive.29
Factions: http://www.sarna.net/wiki/Armed_Forces_of_the_Federated_Suns and http://www.sarna.net/wiki/Capellan_Confederation_Armed_Forces
Force size: 9000 BV Maximum of two lances of Mechs + Support units

Players:
Orzorn - AFFS (2nd Battalion)
mrcrazy_monkey - AFFS (2nd Battalion)
Ewoklord - CCAF (Northwind Highlanders)
Saurok - CCAF (Northwind Highlanders)

There is still room for one player!

So if you want to join, just say so, and tell your faction of choice.
What version of MegaMek we are using? Better decide now so everyone have time to get the right one.

System Name:
Ningpo
Coordinates: 54.77, -67.29
Star Type: G2III
Position in System: 4
Time to Jump Point: 7.00 days
Population: 2,108,428,000
Percentage and Level of Native Life: Birds

http://i995.photobucket.com/albums/af80/S4urok/BGSFMegaMekCampaignMapVer1-1.png

Description:

Named after a provincial capital from the northeast Zhejiang province in China on Terra, Ningpo was a temperate world of fertile ground and beautiful seas.
The planet became a moderate supplier of many agricultural products to worlds like Pleione and Poznan.

Ningpo has two major continents and many islands that are home to many of the exotic birds on the planet. The continent of Qingyuan covers
most of the northern hemisphere, and is composed of 85 percent farmland with rolling hills and dales. Ningbo, the planetary capital, is located on the
southeast coast of the continent. Liampo, the smaller of the two continents, is located in the equatorial region, extending into the southern hemisphere.

Liampo is the more industrialized of the two, though 45 percent of it is covered by farmland, much like Qingyuan. One of the most beautiful places on the
planet is Qingyuan's Yalosha Peninsula. Located on the southwest coast, Yalosha is large peninsula flanked by a large mountain range called Yalo Rue.
The mountains and the peninsula are covered with lush green forests that the timber industry has been selectively farming and using to produce
some of the most beautiful furniture in the Inner Sphere. It is rumored that the Celestial Throne of the Capellan Confederation is made of Ningpo timber.

Operation 1.

For this operation each player splits his forces so that there is atleast 3 mechs at present at both battles.
Remember, winner takes battlefield salvage!

Battle 1:

Major part of 3rd Davion Guards Made planetfall into Qingyuan’s Yalosha Peninsula, where their recon elements started
securing nearby villages and towns. Same time Northwind Highlanders set their recon and hunter lances for
counter these raids. There is small set of towns near southern tip of valley. Second Battalion of Davion Guards
was assigned to clear this sector. Meanwhile Highlanders aim to flank advancing Davion armored elements.
Highlanders meet Davion recon detachment near two small timber villages. Route Davions and there is clear way
to flank Davion armor spearhead.

Objectives: (will be updated, give suggestions)
http://i995.photobucket.com/albums/af80/S4urok/BGSFMission1Map.png - I'll need to find some custom map sheets for those two villages
I'm not sure if this will be anything final...

Davion:
Capture both villages (Marked 1. and 2. on maps) - This means that Davion needs at least one mech present at both villages at the end of mission. - 3 pts per village
Keep at least 50% of forces combat effective - 2 pts

Highlanders:
Destroy/route Davion forces in the area. - 5 pts
Keep at least 50% of forces combat effective - 3 pts

Battle 2:

While main part of Davion RCT is engaged by Capellan skirmisher bands, Northwind Highlanders need to buy time for capital evacuation.
Highlanders set defensive line next to small coastal town of Dotekusa, where they hope to delay attackers. 3rd Davion Guards is forced to
deploy part of their second mech battalion for assault against Highlanders.

Objectives:

Davion:
Capture Town - 3 pts
Keep at least 50% of forces combat effective. - 2 pts
Destroy 50% of enemy forces - 3 pts

Highlanders:
Hold Davion forces atleast 10 turns. - 4 pts
Destroy 50% of enemy forces. - 4 pts

Factions Score points during campaign for completed objectives. Faction with highest score at the end of campaign wins.

I'm still up for whenever.

I might try to get a second force set up tomorrow or maybe Thursday in the case that I need to play double to make up for the lack of the extra player we need.

Hey guys do you still need a forth player? I'm pretty interested in this kind of stuff, but I've never actually have played a game like it, could somebody post a link to the rules and the stuff I'll need to play? Also since I'm going to be a complete noob I'm cool with letting somebody set up my team.

There is always room for 4th player. Which faction you prefer? I can switch sides so there is room on both camps.

First it is best to run couple games on megamek before you go on against humans.

Yup, I'll download megamek and start it up tomorrow, right now I'm just trying to absorb all the rules. And I'll like to play on Davions side for now, even though the highlanders is one of my favorite factions.

I dont se why not, when is this game going to happen? I would like to get in a few games aqainst the AI or my brother before the game.
So I had my first match against the AI,( I did the first senerio), and in the end it was my wolfhound against his Mad Dog. The game ended in a draw as we blew each other up at the same time. :P Not bad, eh?

Pretty cool. I haven't had a single game in MegaMek that wasn't over the top epic. I love that the final kills of BOTH of my first games was a melee hit. The first one was an Atlas punching an Annihilator in the cockpit and killing the pilot instantly, and the second was an Awesome kicking the enemy while it was down and destroying its center torso.

Also, if you want to take a look at the basic rules for Battletech, they are free to download from http://www.classicbattletech.com/index.php?action=products&mode=full&id=179 Now, some of these rules that you may see may not be present in MegaMek, as those are the quick start rules, which are a condensed form of the actual in-game rules (which there are several versions of, depending on what rule set you're playing with, ranging from basic to experimental). I believe we are playing with Introductory rules, so most of those in that PDF should apply.

As for when we are playing, hopefully some time this weekend. The game shouldn't last too long, maybe over an hour or two at most, depending on how long it takes us to take our turns.

Sadly I was unable to take any pictures.

But short version goes like this:

I had to do Head hunter mission and destroy the enemy commander.
I deployed my Striker Lance which included two Phoenix Hawks, Stooping Hawk and Shadow Hawk (yes, I know a lot of Hawks around)

Enemy command Lance had Thunder Hawk, Black Hawk-KU, Lynx and Enforcer.

Shadow Hawk stayed back and used his RAC5 as support weapon while Stooping Hawk and another P-Hawk took left flank. Alone P-Hawk went right flank. Most of the enemy
lance kept nice defensive positions around Thunder Hawk which was the commanders mech.

Second turn started well, when my Stooping Hawk managed to destroy Enforcers Gauss Rifle which caused XL engine destruction. Stooping Hawk absorbed a lot of fire. But managed
to stay up (over 60 damage per turn!). Thunder Hawk missed many Gauss shots while my P-Hawks mauled it with their ER PPC's.

On 4th turn Thunder Hawk managed to connect two Gauss Rifle hits with one of my Phoenix Hawks. Luckly pilot didn't fall down and was able to fall back. Soon I had to start full retreat
because Thunder Hawk was just too much. Luckily my Shadow Hawk was able to spray some slugs with it's RAC5 and succesfully hit Thunder Hawks Gauss Rifle what was on his
right torso. Gauss Rifle took his XL engine out of action.

I was able to retreat all my 4 mechs from the field, which ensured my victory over this battle.

Tomorrow we have next game...
(Sorry for horrid typos and grammar errors)

Also are we trying to RP as the armies we are fighting as?

I don't force anyone RP their unit.

But I will RP mine :D

Nice battle, sounds like you had luck on your side hitting the guass rifles.

So your force will have blavkhawks and vindicators, since your playing as the Highlanders.

How exactly does RPing work within Megamek? You don't mean RP as in keeping to the lore of the faction, do you? Or do you mean, such as if you were playing a Clan faction, that you would Batchall and practice Zellbrigen? That makes sense, but I don't see how our IS factions could really have any such special cases to role play off of.

As for my own force: I hope you guys like auto cannons. I love them.

Once we have date set up, we should be able to download newest version then.

Adding on to what Saurok said you can read what tactics the mechanism used in these battles. Like the 3rd Davion Guard fought up close and personal. While this highlander unit would also try to flank its enemies.

How do I check the version?

I noticed a lot of people on these forums liked MechWarrior. I just recently got into it, I downloaded the fourth game a few days ago. I've been having a lot of fun.

I have an awesome-but-impractical Catapult that I'm using in the game. It has max lasers and max missiles with full armor. If I shoot the lasers more than three times in a row, though, I begin to overheat. But it shoot like 15 missiles at once. So I just need to ration my coolant and switch back and forth between lasers and missiles and I'm fine.

I've also downloaded the Living Legends mod for Crysis. I'm not very good, I've gotten three kills so far. One was complete luck with a VTOL Gauss shot, and the others were just me harrying people as Infantry. The graphics are great, though my compy can't run them very well.

I was thinking of possibly starting Classic Battletech with some of my friends, but I have a lot of other stuff going on.

So, what are your thoughts on the reboot? I think it looks good. I hope the resolve the legal issues soon.

I'm very excited about the reboot coming (I go nuts for mecha-themed stuff in general)

Its going to give me memories of playing the 4th again! (Ah my thor, how i loved to fit you withs lots of clan ultra autocannons and clan pulse lasers, lots of mechs sniped dead from 800m)
