I like the way there are no 'class specific' weapons in Brink, a lot of games seem to give the Medic the LMGs or the Engineers shotguns.

But I will probaly play Medic exclusivly, the most helpfull class IMO. Might play enginner aswell, its the class I played a lot of in TF2 (before my playstyle was chnaged for the better, refer to the "How has your playstyle chnaged you?" thread)

Some sort of area denial tool for the medic would be good for getting into revive range.

Well, besides the healing grenade, the fact that they throw the syringes for reviving should be enough as far as range goes.

It's really going to be different from different games, because of the different types of healing, but it's really too early to tell when the medic would be a disadvantage. All I really think is that every class has a reason to have a target on their back, but the medic has the biggest considering he's the one keeping others alive.

Does the healing grenade heal the enemy as well? Like is that the trade-off?. You get a cool healing grenade, but don't use it near enemies.

I like that also. Some games I want to play a certain role but I can't stand the weapons that class has to choose from.

The interesting thing about Brink, is their reverse thinking of how Medic's work. Typically, revives are up close, heals are ranged (throwing medkits) but in Brink, it is the opposite, so even seasoned Medics may have some type of learning curve.

Every new game requires adaption to a certain point. This is especially the case with new IP's. I think you'll get accustomed with the system very quickly. I guess that bodytypes and buffs will require more adaption than the healing. (This goes for any class btw)

That would be hilarious especially with the Lazarus grenade.

Wait theres healing 'nades? The fu... where have I been?

Also a friend of mine who plays TF2 exclusively on Xbox 360, summed up Medics nicely...

"I would rather have a good Medic than 9 scouts." True Story :)

Very far away it seems. The Laz nade was already confirmed somewhere in August I believe. It's mentioned in the compendium as well.
I quote the Holy Book of HORSE:

Known Medic Abilities:
Life Buff 1 – Life Buff 1 lets you increase a teammate’s health by 1 pip.

Lazarus Grenade - An area effect resurrection grenade that the medic can fling into the general direction of a pile of bodies without having to run into the line of fire himself.

Fleet of Foot – Boost the sprint speed of teammates.

The Laz nade seems to be more of a situational weapon when you're defending a chokepoint or when you attack as a clumped up team. It only revives people in a certain area and we don't know exactly how it works. It MIGHT have a reduced effect when there are more people in the circle or when there some people are not near the center of the laz grenade area of effect, this is pure assumption.

When you're dead, you go into "incapacitated mode". The next peice of info is quoted from the Unofficial FAQ topic.

Q: Is this incapacitated thing the same as Last stand?
A: It's not. When you're incapacitated, you'll have two options:
- Stay dead, wait for a medic to throw a revive syringe. When you use that, you'll have full health again.
- Deploy in the next respawn wave.
Note that there's an ability that makes you able to shoot like in last stand.

Ok but is their just a straight DEAD. is incapacitated mode when your knocked down by teh butt of a rifle? and isnt it true in this mode that an enemy could finish you off? in that case do you instantly respawn?

I'll explain it from 0. It's all in the compendium though...

Incapacitated: You lost all your health. You can wait for a medic or join the next respawn wave, which is determined by a timer. When you join the respawn wave you're DEATH. When the respawn timer hits zero, everyone who was death will respawn. (Respawn time can vary between +- 1-30. You can time your respawn by waiting for a medic for 29 seconds and join the next wave in the last second.)
Death: By joining a respawn wave. Probably by dieing from receiving excessive damage by an explosive (Like in previous SD games. It's not confirmed). When melee'd after knock down. When melee'd after incapacitated. When receiving a lot of fire when incapacitated.
Knock down: By getting hit by gunnbut, tackle or splash damage.

Do you bleed out when you're in the last stand mode? Or downed in general?

Not that I've heard of, but if you're sitting around that long, chances are that it would be better to join the next respawn wave rather than waiting.

As far as I know, you do not. It didn't happen in SD's previous games - you could remain incapped for the entire round if you wanted to - unless you got gibbed.

Splinter Cell: Conviction had a hard one. Kill 6 guys while downed. This is a hard one to get as the downed state is short and it was easy for them to waste you if you started shooting while down.

Hey everyone, I am new here. I have read some of the posts that HORSE has wrote on the gamefaqs website. I saw wrote in an earlier post about a holy book of Horse? They most be one of the developers or have a lot of inside information. Anyways, now to my question. Where is this holy book at in here? Thank you to every one for all the amazing info on this amazing game!

Theres a version of it posted in these forums, but this link is the most up to date version i know of: http://www.fragworld.org/frag/community-blogs/brink-info-pt-1-story-gameplay-smart-classes-and-objectives.html

H0RSE (Blessed be his holy hooves) isn't a dev or anything (although he IS the messiah of The Church of H0RSE, led by Wraith and myself), he is a very dedicated fan who went around and collected a list of every confirmed fact about the game he could find.
