Medic Discussion

Post » Fri May 27, 2011 10:49 pm

I hated the "poison needle mods" in RTCW and ET. You had Medics running around with their needles out, more interested in pricking you with it, than actually playing a Medic. Getting stuck with a needle reversed all your controls, messed up your vision, and gave you DoT. I would rather have Medics stick to healing. Once you give them some unique offensive ability, it will be players in BC2 picking Medic just for the M60. I can't tell you how many times I had a Medic run past me when I need health, or run right past my corpse, and do nothing.

Story of my life when playing BFBC. Especially the first one. Sigh its free points drop the medkit already.

the main reason that happens is because the weapons are limited to class. if you can use any weapon with any class in bfbc2 then not as many people would play medic

Hahaha, yeah, if it's not teleporting knifers it's ridiculous noobtube spam.

But anyway, I have to admit that Medic is starting to sound somewhat appealing to me. I enjoy being on the frontlines, but I play the support role pretty well if I do say so myself. Keeping my team healthy and alive, and still being able to shoot with the best of 'em, well...it could be fun.

I like to play medic in BC2. I maxed it out quick just from healing and rezzing, only my last gun actually went gold and that took a long time. If im gonna be a medic im gonna rez and heal. If i want to kill i would be an assault, if i want to blow up vehicles ill be an engineer. If there is some sort of offensive weapon it would have to have some sort of restrictions. Like it could only be used within a close proximity of say a defensive area. It could be a coma needle. Your keeping your enemy alive long enough so he cant come back at you as quickly.

Medics are the [censored]! :celebration:

I was going to be a Light Operative (Original I know) however due to the large volume of that combination I will be going a Light Medic, no matter where you are my Security friends I got your back! :foodndrink:

A Light Medic would probably play like how I played Medic in ET and QW (just with less hitpoints this time) - remain in cover, offer help to teammates, and run out for quick, precise revives - rinse and repeat. I am going Heavy Medic however, for the guns and health.

Yea but most people will have to come to you to get healed. As long as most people and you are at the objectives it shouldn't be that much of a problem.

New interview confirms different types of medic buffs.

Overheal?
Health regen?
Speed boost?

You are liking the new interview, aren't you?

Overheal is very possible I would say. The other thing I thought of is a health pack the medic can give you that you can use later. Possibly a heal grenade of some sort. (In the picture on the Brink site)

Different kinds of buffs, the latest interview says? Makes me think there might be speed and agility buffs it does! Talking like Zoidberg is fun I say. And he's a doctor, so it's relevant, sort of...

Im pretty sure that the Extra Health Buff has been confirmed, and the interview made it sound like medic buffs help keep people alive and on the move.

What else? Perhaps these:

Damage Resistance Buff - not from all damage but from certain types (Explosive, Bullet, Splash, Trap)

Trap Dodging Buff - it lets you evade a certain number of traps or makes turrets take longer to spot you

TeamKill Off Buff - makes you immune to team fire for a limited time or damage amount, because we all know someone who cant aim a RL correctly.

Faster Running Buff - upgrades Heavies to medium speed, mediums to light, and makes light get a double jump? (Might be game breaking unless its properly balanced, meaning time/distance limit.

Thick Skull Buff - makes crits on head do normal or less damage.

"PIP" Buff - You sacrafice one of your "PIP"s and give it to someone else on your team till you or they die.

Last Stand Buff - Any large damage that would kill them would instead leave them with like 1 health.

Thats a few i came up with. Maybe you can put more into one buff to make it stronger or last longer.

But the medic will have lots of buffs to choose from, so say the interview. Medics cant just have a bunch of different health buffs.

reading that Medics will have lots of buffs to choose from, will add a lot more versatility to the class, and makes me happy :) they are really trying to encompass a lot more into every class, instead of the same "cookie cutter" mold that classes usually follow in games. Medic players can now do core and side missions and can choose to focus more on buffing, rather than standard healing and reviving. The Medic/Healer is usually my favorite class to play in games, and it looks like I will be able to play a true "support" role in Brink.

No. "White Mage" makes me think of JRPG's - which I hate. My ideal class would be Cleric, or Battle Priest.
