Medics and soldiers questions.....

Post » Sat Oct 16, 2010 9:09 am

So I know that Medics can heal others and so on but I am unsure if they can heal themselves? (Not pick themselves up of course)

Also, I know soldiers can give out ammo, but can they give themselves ammo? I'm always running out of ammo on other games and well.....giving myself ammo while giving others ammo would be pretty cool.

I think Soldiers get unlimited ammo? Not sure about the Medic though, seems like they would be able to heal themselves since they are Medics. lol

I would hope that you can at least give yourself ammo. Sort of like in BC2

In Black Ops I always use Scavenger.

The answer to both (and to Engineers buffing their guns, if anyone was wondering) is that you can give yourself ammo/health/buffs, but you can't heal yourself as often as you can heal your teammates, and you don't get XP like you do when you help teammates. This way, you have a strong incentive to use your kit to help teammates and rely on them to help you, but your class tools are still useful when you go solo.

PS: My memory's a bit fuzzy, but they've talked about an unlockable skill for Medic that would allow them to revive themselves when incapacitated. You wouldn't be able to use it too often, and you'd have to give up another skill for it, just like for any unlockable skill.

Yes you can self buff, (ie, engineers can buff their weapons, soldiers can give themselves ammo, medics can heal themselves, not sure what Operatives can do though)

It takes 2 'blips' to heal ones self and awards no EXP, while healing someone else only takes one 'blip' and does indeed award EXP, this also applies to the other classes aswell

EDIT: Chant Ninja'd me to it

This video shows of both soldiers having the ability to give themselves and medics being able to heal themselves.

In the upper left by the health bar you can see a "click left stick to give yourself ammo".
Also im not sure it is in this video but it shows a medic going down then going right back up. So i am pretty sure then can.

Yes, medics can self-revive. the ability supposedly has a major cooldown period.

Somewhere I read or it stated that you can give yourself health but it'd be quicker for someone else to give you health. Prevention of people just sitting by themselves in one spot for prolonged periods of time. Someone correct me if i'm wrong.

giving things (heals/buffs) to yourself costs more energy (and can have cooldowns.) They are trying to promote working together - you buff me, I'll buff you.

Yeah well if you're 1 of 2 medics and the other one is down, you might need to heal yourself.......of course try to save him too.....unless he killed you. >_<

And you can heal yourself, so I don't see the problem. If you need more help, perhaps people on your team should switch to Medic. This all plays into working as a team.

I'm saying that why does it take two bars instead of one? I'm all for helping teamates and its not like you get xp for helping yourself so why not just make it take one bar?

Because people are selfish.

Punishing selfish/lonewolf tactics, helps to promote teamplay. Also, in Medics case, it helps with Rambo medics. Having a penalty applied to helping yourself, just makes it is more tactical for players - prioritizing and managing resources.

I'm pretty sure the explosion just knocked him down. I think he'd have to stab himself first if he were incapacitated.

They did the self revive thing in KZ3 and ut can be a pain, if you turn around after downing a medic he gets up and kills you, he also has a lmg >_> . But when you kill him and take him down again right after he revives you get double the points.

Well if they made it so you can only heal and revive your self once that might actually work. I'm usually medics in other games and everyone else is before me. I stay in cover while healing or reviving someone else.

As long as the whole team isn't one long medic train.

I'd actually be more worried about a Soldier shielding a Medic and that Medic healing/reviving the Soldier constantly.

That's like the Uber-Charge from TF2. It's limited. The medic will run out of blips quite fast.

But if their soldiers are heavy while the medics are light or medium, it won't matter as much since heavies don't die easily.....

They will still be taking damage for two people, and lighter body types have less skill pips. Its all part of the balancing.

Fine, they are all HEAVY. 4 soldiers with 4 medics and they are in a narrow battlefield blocking the bridge to the security side of the island! Now what? :flamethrower:
