[WIP] Medieval London

Just an idea to make the Teutonic order stand out even more, i'm not sure if it's exactly at the specific timeframe your doing your mod in but weren't the Teutons fighting the Polish and lithuanians cause of Paganism? You can make a couple of notes around the city mentioning they need mercenaries and veterans so they can boost their army, the Teutons had mercenaries from all over Europe especially at the Battle of Grunwald/1st battle of Tannenburg where they waited for the mercenaries to arrive from around Europe :)

Interesting idea. However, that's a really minor thing, and the idea will have to wait until London itself is done. Then I will be able to decide if I want to put up posters.

Hey guys,

Demonsshade: Not to say that your other one was bad, but this one was really nice! I liked the carpeting and furniture.

Now onto the problems.

Just two small things.

1.Keep in mind that, unlike Oblivion, London residents were not usually armed unless they were upper class. (Our guys here are all lower or middle class). There will be some exceptions to this rule, so I will let it slide this time, but in the future, please don't put more than one weapon in a house and don't give NPCs armor.

2.Also, you can't really do pathgriding that way. You only need like ten squares; then just connect them by holding CTRL and clicking on a nearby path point.

Otherwise, Good work!

Mitchman: Nice work! I can see you put a lot of time into this. However, I think you made the NPC into a knight. That's cool, but please don't do that in the future. Knights have been taken care of; they're living in a seperate barracks.

One more thing: I think I see how you did the lighting, but keep in mind that it's not always daytime, and sometimes it can be cloudy so the room is not always that bright. It might work if it was always day though. :)

Oh, and I changed your guy's clothing and name. A little bit too upper class.

Otherwise, nice work! You've both gotten into the mod.

Sorry I haven't got around to getting it to you. I''m not even done cause of time restraints and what not but most spare time is devoted to it.

A question on the weapons:

Is it okay for a simple dagger to be lying around for protection? Not in an NPC's inventory, its just on a chest next to the bed and I saw your post about citizens not being armed. Other than that, hopefully I'll get her done by tomorrow and shipped off to you around this time tomorrow.

I've established the following two rules for NPCs.

1. Armor cannot be used in any context.

2. Only one weapon may be placed in a house. The weapons must be either a dagger, shortsword, or war axe. NO weapons can be placed on an NPC!

2. Only one weapon may be placed in a house. The weapons must be either a dagger, shortsword, or war axe. NO weapons can be placed on an NPC!

I'll keep that in mind if I make a third house. In my next one I might go ahead and do carpeting on both floors instead of just the bottom floor, and I'll make sure it seems more like a house than an armory. I had fun making that house, though. Hopefully you caught all of my surprises. If you didn't, just know that you'll have to look carefully for the hidden tables...well...not that carefully. But they aren't easy to spot.

Sorry about the pathgridding too. It's not a feature I particularly like.

Anyways, I'm glad you liked it. Maybe next time I'll make the perfect house, so that you don't need to say anything is out of place! ^^

Blademaster: Well, I'm impressed that you made this house, considering it's your first mod. I destroyed the greeting function on my first mod. :)

Now, onto some small things.

1. It's ok, I know you're learning, but could you just leave the pathgriding to me? You did alright for the first time, but there's just so many points that I just had to delete it. I don't mean any offense, I'm impressed that you were able to connect the points and all; it techincally would have functioned, but would end up confusing the NPC following it.

2. If you want to connect the interior to a test cell, please use a world outside Tamriel. Putting extra doors in Tamriel risks tampering with the world itself; something I don't want to happen. Also, please delete any connections before sending me the mod; it makes it easier for me.

Other than that, you did pretty good for the first time. I give you two thumbs up! :)

demonsshade: I will await that house. (Can't wait to see what it looks like)! Good work so far.

Daily Update:

Uh...like I said there will be no progress on weekdays.

However, I've established the following rules for the interior design thingy. Sorry for the additional restrictions, but there are certain thing that just give me a headache. Now that five or so houses have been submitted, I might not be as lenient. If I find more than a couple of mistakes or problems with you interior, I might just reject it and ask you to revise it yourself. This is because I really don't want to waste hours fixing hundreds of little tweaks.

Bottom Line: Please obey all rules.

1. Do not pathgrid the house. It just gives me a headache, because sometimes, people might mess up and make an extra path point somewhere way outside the interior, and I have to delete these. I don't like doing that. Please leave pathgriding to me.

2. Do not put any hostile NPCs or creatures inside the house. It's a house, not a I want to eat your face gorefest.

3. Please refrain from attaching the interior to an outside cell. It's a pain to delete, and there's that risk that I might dirty the mod. Ugh...

Anyway, thanks for all the hard work!

Kroot

Edit: I just noticed, how many people on this thread play MTWII? Or RTW? Cause it seems like all your facts are pulled right from that game. No offense of course; I play the game too.

However, I would warn against depending on the game for info. It can be very misleading even if it says that the game is pretty historically accurate.

Major Update Today:

London, Section 2 has been completely walled off, has sidewalks in place, and has a good number of buildings and clutter in place. I'll post more screenshots tonight when I have time.

Keep in mind that this is the most densely populated area in the mod. That said, computers will not lag due to the small number of NPCs outside at any time.

Quick rundown of the area:

A Lower Class section with lots of trash and assorted junk all over the place.

A Middle Class section with slightly cleaner streets.

A Church in the Middle Class area.

A small Upper Class section with beautiful streets.

Again, more screens will come up tonight.

hmmm for the Npcs i think it might actually be a good idea to take a leaf from the imperial city and break it into chunks. London is a fairly large city and if there are only a feww NPCs outdoors at anyone time then it would feel very empty and kkill immersiveness

It already has been split into chunks. There are just so many people that most need to be inside even though it's walled off.

The progress sounds great guys!!! Keep it up!!!! I keep checking up on this thread daily, if not hourly.

RedSox: Dudish is correct, the city has already been broken up into seven sections.

Uh...as far as the screens go, I think I'll be able to post them two or three hrs from now. Please hang on.

Alright, here are the official screenshots:

The first one the is view when you first enter the district from the south, while the second is the same view at nighttime. Note that you enter from the middle class district, so, you won't see the slums till later. But I am working on them.

http://i623.photobucket.com/albums/tt317/Kaw434/ScreenShot97.jpg

As for climates, I've put the settings at a 25% fog, 25% cloudy, 25% rain, and 25% sunny.

Uh...let's see. I'm STILL waiting on my brother for the other half of the London Bridge. He's also suppose to work on two other districts of London, but he's hasn't really made any progress on them.

Anyway, thanks for reading, and keep watching!

Kroot

Edit: Although he didn't do much, I would like to take this time to officially thank MTM. If you ever read this MTM, know that I don't hold anything against you, and I owe the idea for this mod to you.

omg I have been thinking this is gonna be just some fail mod that wouldn't work and that it would turn out bad but those screens look amazing, lots of houses in a row like that should be in the game and i think i should design some more interiors if you need them (no more surprises this time)

Ouch, that kinda hurt. Jk. Well, I'm about to go to bed, so no more progress for today. I finished some more cluttering of the section. I've added some cool new features like a Ballista range! In section 1, you'll even see a trebuchet! (Not that you'll be able to fire it, or anything.) I'm also adding a few gallows; one with a condemened man that actually sways in the breeze.

Edit: Looking forward to those interiors. :)

Daily Update:

Ok, so I've just been working on finishing up Section 2 of London. So far, I've added some meshes from modder's resources. And here are some screens.

The first one is just a top view of the section. You can see the cathedral rising far above the houses below. (Sorry for the sea in the background, I was running on low graphics).

The second shows the ballista range behind the barracks.

The third is of an unlucky fellow who has been hanged and displayed in the center of the district. Thanks to Phitt for the model!

Huh, well I haven't gotten any responses for quite a few days, hm.

So, right now I'm too involved with school to work on the project, but this weekend should see some progress.

As I said above, I'm looking for feedback on the mod so far. Do you guys like, hate, or are somewhere in the middle on the idea of London? Is there anything you want added or improved?

Finally, does anyone know of a building that can be used in the CS that resembles Westminster Hall? (part of modern day Houses of Parliment)

Valis: Thanks for the feedback. It's always good to know that people like the direction that the mod is going.

Okay guys, so I decided to spice up the interior contest that I made up earlier by adding some prizes. They're not that great, but hey, they're worth the thirty minutes needed to put together a mod.

Prize

At the end of the contest, I will pick an interior submitted by a user that I found to be creative, funny, good, or whatever. I will only choose one though, so try to make something stand out in your interior. From there you'll win the following perks. Like I said, not much, just want to get you pumped for the mod.

1. I have set aside several upper class houses in some of the districts. The winner will be able to take one of these houses, throw all the rules out the door, and customize it however they want. (Well, as long as it doesn't include something inappropriate or just outright unacceptable).

2. The winner will get a pre-release version of the mod before anyone else. How long before everyone else? About a week or two. I'll discuss this further with the winner when the time comes.

3. The winner will get an inside look at the upcoming "expansion" to London: Transylvania. Complete with Dracula's Castle. :)

So, please submit some interiors and get some big perks.

Thanks for reading!
