[WIP] Medieval London

Post » Wed Mar 30, 2011 12:04 am

So, the weekend is coming up again. Unfortunately, I've really lost my train of thought, and will put down this mod for a week or maybe two. So, don't expect any progress anytime soon. This is just a temporary break; I will come back to it in 7-14 days.

But, please, feel free to send me interiors. Check out the new prize section as well.

Thanks!

Nooooooooo!!!!!!! Don't run out of fuel. Trust me, I would have been on here daily, but I've been sick. Don't give up! People like me still really want this mod! I will be back to check on this daily now that I am better. I really like the prizes!

Really, please don't give up. I am really looking forward to the release of this. I will be back daily, to give support, encouragment, or whatever. Unfortunatly I am very busy right now, so I don't think I'll do any interiors, but I am still really intrested in this. Don't let it die!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Wow Dudish, you need to calm down.... and learn to read. He said quite specifically he's taking a break for a week or two. Didn't say he's giving up... geez.

I know that! And I did read. I've just seen way to many mods given up this way. The two week break turns into a 4 week one, then a month or two... So on. They always assure you that they won't give up, but the break gets longer and longer... I'm not necessarily saying kroot is this type of person, but... Just wanted to let him know I was still intrested. Quite enthusiastically too.

Dudish: I appreciate your concern and understand where you're coming from. However, I would like to point out that many mods are not worked on for three months straight. We all have lives outside modding. There's no way that we could possibly even think about trying to pull off such a mod in one go.

Citizen is right, this is a temporary break. If I had said this and had a history of never releasing a mod, then I'd understand. However, check my records; I'm pretty good on my word. This break is temporary; if for some reason I want to cancel this mod, I will tell you beforehand.

Thanks again.

Kroot

Edit: Besides, I really need to stop thinking about London. :)

Interesting to see a fresh corpse hanging instead of a rotted one. I like it.

This mod sounds really good, but just a though, you know that Transylvania is in Romania right?

Awia: Yes, I am aware of that. By expansion, I meant to say an additional city besides London. I've decided to only do Dracula's Castle for now, maybe think about expanding later.

However, I have not begun this mod, as I'm still doing London. But, as I said before, I'm taking a small break from my London mod. Though I might try to work a little tommorow.

Alright guys, so it's been quite a while since I've worked on this mod.

Some bad news: My brother, responsible for nearly half of London, has dropped on me.

However, I refuse to let this mod die; too much work and dedication has been put into it. TWO of my last three long term mods have died out. I refuse to let another share the same fate.

So, I wasn't planning to do this, but I'm putting out a search for a team. Just one or two modders, please.

Although this mod is open to anyone, I would like to extend a special invitation to Dudish, demonsshade, valis123, and Citizen86. If you guys have the time and the patience, maybe we could work out something.

Finally, I do, unfortunately, have some criteria for this mod. This is one of my more ambitious projects, and will take a level of modding skill to complete.

1. You must be familiar with the TES CS. This means that you need to know how to operate the basic tools on your own, without much help.

2. You need to be familiar with exteriors, landscaping, and world building. If you are just a little uncertain, I'll still take you.

3. You should have a basic understanding of London. No, this doesn't mean a full knowledge of every English king. But, you must know or get to know the following: where London is, three major landmarks in the city, and a basic understanding of London in the Middle Ages. (This third one can have some leeway. Talk to me if you qualify for everything except this one).

Finally, this call for modders is strongly encouraged, but not required. I can finish this mod on my own; but it will take a lot longer. And there's a higher risk that the completion time will be heavily postponed to perhaps a year from now. Yikes.

Just to give you a quick feeling of what there is to do, I'm looking for someone (or two) to work on a generic district on the northern side of London, as well as possibly a person to work on Southwark. I can divide up the actual jobs later, but right now I just need to get a feel if anyone is willing to help.

Thanks for reading!

Sorry to hear that your brother couldn't continue =/ I wish I could help but i'm not really a modder, i've only made a shed and placed some things around in it, and that's even in FO3 not Oblivion :/

As for the need to know about London part about the mod recruitment part that shouldn't be a problem for the modders that will take interest in joining you I guess, everything in history about London can be found on the internet so a little reading might help, and hell, who doesn't know anything about London? :D

I really wish someone would help you finish the mod, i'm sure a few people will help though, the community here is quite helpfull..

Anyway, time for college, bye =)

Wow I was mentioned by name... I feel all warm inside...

Honestly though, I barely have any time to work on Mesogea as of late, so unfortunately I think I'll have to take a pass (I don't know much about London either, but that's a side point). Thanks for thinking of me though! Hope it works out for you.

valis: Understood. Thanks for replying, though!

Citizen: I understand; Mesogea is a very cool mod. Good luck, and thanks!

So, I'm still looking for one or two modders for help on this mod. See my above post or the first page for info.

Do not pathgrid the house. It just gives me a headache, because sometimes, people might mess up and make an extra path point somewhere way outside the interior, and I have to delete these. I don't like doing that. Please leave pathgriding to me. EXCEPTION: IF YOU ARE 100% SURE THAT YOU CAN PATHGRID CORRECTLY, THEN YOU ARE ALLOWED TO. HOWEVER, SHOULD YOU MESS UP, I WILL IMMEDIATELY SEND BACK THE MOD AND ASK YOU TO FIX IT. DO THIS AT YOUR OWN RISK!!!

I'm not really interested in this mod, i just kind of checked through the original post and this caught my attention. I don't know for others, but if i would actually made something like an interior for someone else's mod, i would be really offended if that somebody would sent me back the esp and asked me to fix something that he doesn't like. You should consider yourself very lucky if a complete stranger from this community shows enough kindness and enthusiasm for your work that he actually gets his behind into motion and makes something for you. That's why i would recommend that you edit that and, more importantly, don't do that if someone does something for you in the first place. You can delete the path grids in a cell with three click, in literally 2 seconds, anyway.

Just though to point that out. Good luck with your mod!

Redbag: I don't think you understand my point. You don't have to pathgrid the house. You don't even have to make an interior. But if you are, I don't want to be going around fixing your every mistake, as it gets very repetitive.

You shouldn't take offense at me sending back the interior; I'm just asking you to fix a little thing because I don't have the time to fix it myself. If you do, then that's your problem, and you shouldn't have submitted the plugin in the first place. By submitting an interior, you agree to my rules (which, I might say, are not that demanding). Look at any other interior that has been submitted. I'm actually very lenient and nice the first few times, but if someone continues to make the same problem as people before them, then I will send it back with a polite note asking them to change it.

If I came off and angry with the bold, I'm sorry. I just wanted to make sure that people saw that rule on first glance.

Anyway, thanks.

Well the weekend is coming up again, and I've suddenly had a burst of creativity and energy for London. So, expect some progress this weekend. :)

By the way, I'm still looking for those one or two modders. There's more info on the first page, first post.

Well, I'm actually going to hold off on this project a little longer. Firstly, to give a little more time to see if anyone wants to help out. Secondly, to think and plan out the city a little more. Finally, to project a predicted release date for this mod.

Please, if you want to help out this mod, please see the first page for info, and PM me if your interested.

Edit: On a side note, the expansion for this mod: Transylvania, has been confirmed and will go into production after London is done. I was going to release Dracula's Castle for Halloween, but, oh well. :)

Like I said before guys, I'm still holding off on this project. I've secured the planning for the city, and here's some additional info in that area.

In London, Section 2 alone, I count 66 houses. Three or four of these will be vacant, so I can lower that figure down to 62. That means about sixty or so NPCs in this district alone. Not to fear, for this is quite a reasonable number.

1. Section 2 is the largest part of the entire city.

2. There will only ever be ten or so NPCs out at a time. The rest will be indoors.

The remaining sections will have smaller numbers of NPCs. The smallest having about 20 while the largest having about forty or fifty.

So, that's it for updates, but let's get down to the important matter at hand.

London will probably not be finished without the help of an extra modder!

My original estimate was wrong; this mod will be nearly impossible without another person to divide the work with. After planning and attempting to build parts of the city, I must conclude that there will be trouble if another modder isn't found.

Anyway, please, if you would like to make this dream of London a reality, please PM me so we can work out an agreement. You don't have to go all out at all; I just need someone to work on a single section of London for me!

Thanks for reading,

Kroot

I really really hope someone does help you, cause this mod will be truly awesome for those who're into Medieval style cities! I'd help myself if I knew how to and had the time, but sadly I can't as I said before.

By the way, any chance you'd 2-3 new pictures ? Might spark some interest for other modders ;)

and i'd also really love to see Transylvania, would be an idyllic place for vampires there

Chris: Er...what?

Dudish: Hey, no prob. But, if you are still interested in december, I'll PM you about some minor work.

So, I was able to get some work done today. Basically, I'm just putting NPCs and clutter into the London Bridge section. In this way, I want to show off a part of the city that actually functions. I'll have screens and a video up this weekend.

Hey guys,

I should probably post this just to reassure some people. Work will not be done on this mod until December 21, after my Amusemant Park is released.

Just wanted to put that out there.
