[WIP] Medieval London

Post » Wed Mar 30, 2011 9:57 am

Here's an update for you guys: I've uploaded a video on Youtube.

This is a sneak peek. As such, I'm just walking through the Thames District (London Bridge). There aren't any NPCs yet.

The real trailer will come later. This is simply to attract attention to the mod.

Edit: Please try to help out by submitting interiors. I have quite a few spots on the London Bridge that don't have interiors yet!

Well, progress is slow, but steady.

I was just working on Section 4; perfecting how the London Bridge looks from the riverbank. I also started on a boardwalk along the edge of the Thames.

Finally, I would still like to urge you to help out by making interiors for the mod. (Rules and info on the first page). It would make my life a lot easier if you did.

Thanks,

Kroot

Update

Yeah...so working on Thames District, trying to bring it to life. Hopefully I'll have something more to show you guys soon.

However, I now have competition. Uglulyx is making a city loosely based on Medieval Venice. Hehe...it's a medieval frenzy!

Here's a screenshot of the London Bridge under typical London weather. Hopefully, this will really make it look realistic.

As for updates, slow and steady; slow and steady. The first NPCs have appeared in the Thames, and hopefully more will continue to pop up as time goes on.

Alright, so I won't update much this week, as it is kinda crunch time for me (schoolwork wise). However, I've changed the weather in london to be 90% foggy, rainy, or cloudy, and 10% sunny. This will slightly exaggerate the conditions of London.

In addition, I'm proud to say that the tower of London is starting to take shape, as well a few walls in Southwark.

Finally, the Thames is coming along fine; I need to finish three or four interiors and all the NPCs before a trailer can be released.

Edit: Oh, and I'm still open to people submitting interiors. It would really help!

Now that winter break is here, the call for modders goes out again. Is anyone willing to help on Medieval London? Is anyone willing to try to make this mod reality?

Please read the first page for more info.

Ok guys, so once again, I return to try do something with this mod.

School has been hard lately, and I've been juggling between this mod and the Amusemant Park. I know I've said it way too many times, but I swear to you I will try to get the Thames District done soon. Once that's done, I can officially put up a real trailer.

Thanks, and please bare with me.

I believe I can help with some aspects, say getting houses built, shops, landmarks. I'm not so good with AI, scripting and all that. I also sent in an email to you with a esp. for a house, hope you like that.

Dom-bat: Thank you for volunteering, I'll keep in touch with you via email.

About the house you sent me: Everything looked good, except the child.

This is very important, because child violence will classify this mod as advlts only. I don't want to be put in that situation, so please refrain from adding children into any more houses. You may add young looking NPCs, but they must be full size.

Anyway thanks for volunteering!

Valis: I have everything except the NPCs and two houses done.

Oh yeah, it wasn't really that hard to take out. Btw, check your email over the next few days, as i may send you info.

In other news, the Thames Bridge is completely built, interiors and all. If I can get some NPCs in, I'll be able to release an official trailer by this weekend. Yay!

I will warn you that there will be some historical inaccuracies, but will assure you that they are very minor.

Thanks for reading!

Ok guys,

The Thames is almost complete. This weekend should see the official trailer release. However, no promises, cuz I've got finals coming up and might need to take a break off for that.

The latest release for the trailer is next weekend. Not too bad...

Hang in there!,

Thanks for the interior Dom-bat, and check you email, as I'll try to send you more info.

Guys, the Thames is sooo close. I just need about five more NPCs to be put into place. Argh....

I hope I can put up the trailer today, but it might be bumped to next weekend due to the upcoming finals.

Almost there guys,

Are you going to have any quests in this mod?

I'm so glad you asked richard.

This mod will not have any "Kill the guy who's been stealing my food" quests. It would draw away from the focus of the mod, which is to recreate London in 1250.

However, I might try to add in one or two quests that pertain to something important, such as player housing. As a player, you have the option of buying two houses in London. One is small but cheap, the other is medium sized and slightly more expensive.

Don't worry, my main focus in this mod is to recreate London to the exact detail. Every section of the city is based off of maps of London from that time period. I've been to London twice, so I have a good idea of what the city should look and feel like.

But thanks for asking; that's a great question.

Section 3 is now my next target. That is the section with St. Paul's. Expect a large market near the west side of the city. More updates will follow.

Ok guys, I have set a tentative release date for this mod. Look for it on June 20, 2010. Sorry for the late release date, but I'm looking to complete the Amusemant Park of Cyrodiil first.

Keep in mind this is extremely tentative. It will probably be pushed back up to a month. But for now, that's my goal.

Section 3 is coming along nicely. Unfortunately, I haven't heard from my interior designer in a while, so exterior building is the only thing going on there.

Thanks for reading,

Thanks for holding out guys!

As promised, I have returned to push forward on this project.

In other news, I have joined with the De-throned staff to create the city of London in the 17th century for their English Civil War mod. However, I will still be creating the Medieval Version as a seperate release.

The release date looks a bit shaky, but I'm confident I will pull through.

That's all for now,

Thanks,

Kroot

Kroot9525,

I was wondering how "tough" of a mod this is/was because I'm thinking of trying something akin to it. This is a very inspired project and I look forward to seeing it completed!

Map thanks in advance!

Tough enough that I think its dead. No update in three months and his projected release date of June has come and gone without a word here.

Ozmandias,

Yes, I will admit the project is dormant. I simply cannot handle the amount of work by myself. But, that's ok, because I haven't killed the project yet. I'm doing small bits of work, just barely keeping it above the surface.

Hopefully, I'll have news soon,

Thanks,

Kroot
