[WIP] Medieval London

Post » Wed Mar 30, 2011 7:58 am

Ozmandias,

Yes, I will admit the project is dormant. I simply cannot handle the amount of work by myself. But, that's ok, because I haven't killed the project yet. I'm doing small bits of work, just barely keeping it above the surface.

Hopefully, I'll have news soon,

Thanks,

Kroot

So it's still going? Good. That gives me a chance to point out a minor inacuracy in the trailers: in none of them is it raining :P .

Joking aside, I do hope this sees the a release some day. Even if I never new it existed until today, it is a great idea. But what do you fight?

The Greatness,

Hehe...nice one. But in all seriousness, I've already made improvements that added rain. The only problem with trailers is that you can't see anything if it's raining.

And of course, no mod is the same without a good fight. In Medieval London, fighting is completely optional. But, should you feel adventerous, a fanatical group of Welsh Rebels (with French advisors) has seized control of the nearby city of Southwark on the other side of the London Bridge. You'll find English knights and guards desperately fighting off the enemy, who has already torched Southwark and is hoping to come after the rest of London.

However, you the noble hero, can step in and stop them. Drive out the Welsh, for a while. (They respawn after three days)

I'v actually completed this part in addition to Section 2 and The London Bridge.

Thanks,

kroot

Wow, it's been quite a while.

You have no idea how badly I want to finish this mod. Problem is, it requires a lot of inspiration, free time, and energy, something I just don't have all the time. Please forgive me if I'm keeping you waiting for this mod to release.

Well, I'm here to announce that, firstly, this mod is still progressing, and secondly, I won't stop until I finish. Even if that means it takes another year. Oh, and did you know this is both the one year anniversary of Medieval London and The Amusemant Park of Cyrodiil? But down to business we go.

I have finally found someone willing to help me attempt Westminster Hall. That means Westminster still has a chance of being in Medieval London. Two sections: Southwark and The London Bridge, are completely finished (I just need to fix aggressions in Southwark). Section 1 is the only section still in planning. Section 2 is near done, but lacks NPCs and most of its interiors. Section 3 has a WIP St. Pauls, and is the current focus of the project. Section 4 has some exteriors, but still needs quite a bit of work.

To give you an idea how much longer this project will take, I have updated the Section List on the first page.

Thank you for all your support, and I may need to make a new thread soon.

Good to hear. This is such a large mod that the progress you've made is quiet substantial if you ask me. About how big is this London? Do you have a rough map or anything?

The Greatness,

Excellent Question. I don't think I've mentioned that yet. Here: http://i623.photobucket.com/albums/tt317/Kaw434/LondonSections.jpg

Ignore Sections 7, it has been removed.

This should help you see what I'm doing.

Thanks,

Kroot

Oh awesome. I didn't realise you'd be doing the Tower of London, I'm looking forward to that now. It'd be nice to see a bit more south of the Thames though.

Oh, I forgot that Section 7 covered Westminster. Well, like I said before, Westminster is still in consideration, but the rest of the section is not.

Right now I'm working on the landscaping for Section 3. So far, so good.

Update,

Section Three is finally taking shape. I've cut down on some parts of several distriscts (nothing major), just to cut down on NPCs and houses. I'm starting to believe that I might be able to finish the construction portion of London relatively soon. After that, all I need to do is create the interiors and NPCs.

I'm still looking for more interiors; see the prizes on the first page.

Thanks,

Kroot

Give a quick update here.

This mod is not dead...it's, rather say, dormant. Once the Visions of Time amusemant park is done, I will immediately cancel the Famous Battles Project and work on this instead. This is due to heavy voice acting that is required for the Famous Battles mod; I simply cannot get the resources to do it. Medieval London may have a few lines, but nowhere near the massive amount FB would need.

For those of you watching this mod, the expected restart date is around middle to late May.

Thanks,

Kroot

Hello fellow modders,

For ya'll who thought I was retired, rest assured that I still am. I'm just making this post because I want to reassure those of you who weren't aware of the current situation.

I've cancelled every single mod I've been working on so far with one exception: Medieval London. I promised two years ago I would get it done, and I intend to stay true to that promise.

Unfortunately, I'm kinda retired, so I won't have a whole lot of time to mod this thing. Right now, I'm expecting a release in perhaps late summer. But I guess that all depends on how this works out. :)

So for those of you watching Medieval London, thanks for the continued support, and here's your long awaited update:

Progress Report

Section 1 (Residential/Military Area): Cancelled for the moment and will only be reopened if time allows.

Section 2 (Residential/Military Area): Section 2 is the largest section of Medieval London. However, it is also one of the two sections to house military bases. Purely residential, Section 2 boasts a nice town square where you can shop or simply walk around. Other than that, feel free to explore the countless churches lining its streets. Done except for the majority of the interiors and the NPCs.

Section 3 (St. Paul's): This district houses an iconic landmark in English history: St. Paul's Cathedral. It is also home to the only other military base in London. Mostly residential, Section 3 boasts much of the same offerings of Section 2 with a little more shopping added in.
Horror and thrill seekers hold your breath no longer, for Section 3 is also notorious for its "Forbidden Section". This walled off part of London has been evacuated by royal decree, and is vigilantly guarded by the city watch. What secrets and mysteries lie beyond that great wall? Beware the Forbidden Section, for those who enter are trapped forever. Landscaping and exterior building in progress.

Section 4 (Tower of London/Waterfront): This lively district is situated on the banks of the Thames. Make sure you visit the famous Tower of London, or wander the docks and shipyards. Section 4 is also home to the only Alchemist in London; those of you looking for a little "magic" should definitely drop by for some interesting potions and ingredients. Landscaping and exterior building in progress.

Section 5 (The London Bridge): Once a densely populated structure, the old London Bridge houses several houses and lots of street vendors. The inns lining the sides of the bridge are also famous for good service and food. Section 5 is completely done.

Section 6 (Southwark): If you were expecting another peaceful district, think again. Southwark has been overrun by Welsh Sympathizers angry over Henry III recent hostility with Wales. Aided by French advisors, these brutes have sacked and burned the city, leaving it in flames. Journey into the ruins and help the remaining guards eliminate the threat before it is too late. All enemies and allies respawn in three days, so you can continue the battle as long as you want to. Section 6 is nearly done, with some final NPCs needing placement.

Section 7 (Westminster): Temporarily on hold; the district is still up-in-the-air.
