Medium Body Type Weapon Recommendations?

Post » Wed Sep 01, 2010 5:34 pm

My first character was a light med-gineer, but i maxed him out so now i started a medium Sold-Oper. My problem is i don't know what weapons to use! I don't want to go back to a light body type for my second character but i don't know what weapons would be a good combo :/ I've been using the Lobster nade launcher and a Kross SMG until level 13 but now i want a change, i need a good AR but which one is best suited for an Operative?

So i'm generally asking what is your preferred AR with attachments so i could try them out and find one best suited towards me. Thanks :)

GERUND AR - speed sling, muzzle brake, greeneye scope, duct taped mags

CARB-9 SMG - as above

Funny thing, I was thinking about changing my own set up just for a change, but the above is my favourite combo so far.

I'll end up trying all these suggestions! I just played a match with the Euston AR, not bad!

Light body is better for soldiers and operatives than it is for engineers.

I think not, your body type doesn't mean anything when picking a class. I've seen heavy operatives work better then light operatives.

I like the Rhett and Euston as a primary, and a Galactic, Carb-9, or Tokmak as a secondary.

I'm kind of all over the place attachment wise, I just try a combination, roll with it for a while, and then change it up.

The Euston (or, actually, any Assault Rifle) is going to be a good bet for any Medium Character, because if you're going to take a subby as Primary you're probably better off with Light.

If you end up being a grenade heavy the Single Shot Grenade Laucher will be good, but you have to wait until you've got the credit level for it because at base it's pretty weak. The Shotgun is a bit overstated, I feel. I've always been a fan of shotguns in games since R6V days but in this game I find it to be fairly wasteful.

The way I play operatives, I always use the mossington. Once I kill an enemy, I disguise myself as them and sneak behind the defenses. Then I prey on the weak and shotgun them in the back.

This. I run this exact loadout on my Euston. The trick is to ADS and fire in small 5-shor bursts. Deadly, but you need a lot of control for the Euston.

I recommend a Kross as Backup - Kross has the best hip-fire accuracy, so no need to ADS.

Funny thing is I use an Euston with COGA scope, foregrip, high capacity mag, and ADS with short controlled bursts like you mentioned. My secondary is the Kross with Yeotek red dot sight, speed sling, and duct-taped mags, and use it for hip firing... great minds think alike I guess.

Personally,I think the Rokstedi is garbage. In every category,it is inferior to every other assault rifle, with the exception of it's ROF vs the FRNK.

PICK A GUN THAT CALLS YOU YOUR SOUL! I've found that a personal attachment to a gun is a grand thing to behold. Just find one that you like aesthetically, with the right stats and addons and WHAM you got yourself a killing machine that YOU love. Listen to other peoples opinions.

Garund with grip and duck-tape mags, muzzle break and adjusted iron sights (I have these on all of my guns)
Galactic SMG with speed sling, muzzle break and drum mag (If you are a light body type, try this, it's a bullet hose)

But seriously, try everything! All the guns are fun to play with once and a while (Barnett with Iron sights <3)

In a game where ammo is scarce for everyone but soldiers being able to put every bullet where I want it is invaluable to me.

Make sure you put the C-cog scope and the drum clip and the fore grip

For good close-up work, you can't go past a Mossington.

ARs are generally most effective at a range bracket starting where SMGs start to drop off in effectiveness. FRKN-3K and Rockstedi have a harsh learning curve in the handling, but they're great weapons for the longer end of the AR range scale, particularly when scoped - with any AR other than those two, NEVER FORGET TO BURST FIRE. When you're firing on full auto, you may as well be facing the wrong way.

Gorund is my personal preference of the ARs, it's got solid stats all-round, and is comfortable being equipped with basically any attachment combo you can think of - it's the most versatile, imo, but others are better for their specific roles. Euston is a really good weapon as well.

Honestly, though, TRY EVERYTHING. If you have time, try everything with every combination of attachments that seems even remotely like it would be useful to you.

I just decided to test the use of COGAs on pistols tonight - with a Sea Eagle, I got most kills in every match I used it. I alternated playing as Soldier (in which I also earned "best Soldier" every time, and Operative (Wasn't quite so effective for getting "Best Operative," but it was still fun)

Yeah, that's a good point, but I'm just referring to all the guns at base level.

At the OP's question,I think that this is a game that doesn't have a "this is the best gun".I use the hell out of the Lobster and haven't heard or really seen too many people use it.Give me that, and a Carb-9 and I'm good to go.

The point is that you have to play around and find the setup that best suits your play style.

I just tried using drum mags in single player... made the challenges MUCH easier, I now have my "King Of The World" achievement for completing all 3 Star Challenges.

Agreed 100% Also the damage on the rokstedi is insane. I usually roll with adjusted irons, rapid fire and a muzzle break though.

I would not go with and assault rifle unless your a soldier because you will run out of ammo fast. when Im an operative I get a Mossington or a Lobster then for secondary I get a carb-9 with a red dot, extended magazine and a grip for accuracy.

Personally, I like the Rhett (with a red dot and foregrip) and the Drognav (with the Snoop scope) setup. the Rhett is good for close-mid range and the Drognav is just great from mid range out.
