The elder Arangner was considered the greatest alchemist in all of Tamriel. She was well over 700 years old, and had a long standing contract with the Dark Brotherhood to supply them with powerful poisons when needed. She was a strict adherent to the Green Pact. Even though most Bosmer believe the Green Pact was restricted to the flora and forest of Valenwood, the elder Arangner believed it should be for all flora in Tamriel. She came to this realization after being blessed with the ability to "speak" to flora. This blessing came from praying at an ancient Aldmer temple to Arkay.
The Thalmor knew of the prophecy of the Dragonborn. Their thirst for power of "Mer over Man" led them to the elder Arangner to find a possible potion that would allow them to absorb the souls of dragons as a Dragonborn would. The Thalmor believed this power would be the tipping point in their battle to rule all of Tamriel. Arangner researched many days and nights and even consulted the Fyr family. To her astonishment she actual found a way to do it. It was a potion that required the blood of a dragon and that of a living Dragonborn. The Thalmor demanded the recipe for the potion from Arangner under laws of the Aldmeri Dominion. The wise alchemist held out until the Thalmor paid her a hefty sum for her work. The Thalmor feared that the elder Arangner might sell the recipe to someone else that had enough septims. The Thalmor decided to silence her permanently. At first they tried to hire the Dark Brotherhood but they refused on the basis of their long standing contract with the powerful alchemist. Instead they waited until the elder Arangner traveled to Valenwood for the Elden Grove festival and had one of their own assassins do the deed on the way.
The younger Arangner was devastated when the news of her grandmothers demise reached her. At first she did not know who was responsible for the crime but she soon found out from a cryptic message sent to her by the Dark Brotherhood. It said, "The justice you seek can be found in the land of the Nords. The agents of the Aldmeri Dominion have many nefarious ways."
Arangner soon packed her elven bow and dagger and headed to Skyrim.
(Arangner will be a powerful alchemist but only use non flora ingredients as she is a strict adherent to the Green Pact. This will include all animal, magical, and fungi ingredients. She will use illusion, bow, and dagger. She will not use any found potions as she does not know what ingredients were used to make them. I know in the game you have to use firewood to craft arrows and I will, but for RP sake I will make her sell animal bone for every bundle of arrows she makes to pretend they are made from bone. At first she will have no desire to be Dragonborn but will decide to utilize the new found powers to destroy and mock the Thalmor. She will also obviously be pulled towards the DB and TG. She will also learn smithing from the Nords as she realizes the potential power of dragon bone bows and arrows. She also will side with the Stormcloaks out of spite for Legate Rikke. Wish Arangner luck on her quest of revenge.)
