Meet the Devs #5

Post » Sat May 28, 2011 2:52 am

This will be the only time I ask a question about Skyrim, so if anyone can answer it, that would be swell, if not, so be it.

To any of the devs who are involved in the making of Skyrim:

Is the night vision bestowed upon the player by the Eye of Night/Night-Eye spell still bright blue? Or did you decide to make it a different color (hopefully)?

I would be extremely grateful if this question could be answered, but if not, no big deal, I can wait until November to find out.

What was your favorite open world game from the day after Oblivion's release until now and why?

I have always wondered, were do you guys go to find all the textures for all the different levels and scenery? It always intrigued me walking around Oblivion just looking at the landscape and architecture and just taking in how vast the world is.

Won't be answered Master thief. They aren't answering questions relating to content of any kind. That means your question, or if I ask if I can have a green haired anime chick that i can get drunk at a nord bar and be able to slip her a roofie....

I just want to know how do you decide how big to make a world feel, are decisions you make about the game a democratic process or no?

Ooh, I recall a part from the making of where they actually went out with cameras to take photographic references. They probably just 'shop it a bit after that and voila.

EDIT: Wait, every Meet the Devs post needs a question:
If there are any devs that play Team Fortress 2, what class do you play most? What did you think of the Australian Christmas update?

1. Would Bethesda, preferably BGS, happen to be hosting internship within the next 4 years or so?

2. Do you guys listen to music while at work, and if so what is the most popular genre heard in this fortress of yours that I saw described earlier?

3. What would you say the most common programming language is nowadays and if the different programmers use different languages based upon preference, how do they mesh together in the final product?

Could one of the devs listen to this song and tell me what you think about it. I won't buy the game if you don't. I'm super cereal.

1) How often do you guys clean your keyboards?

2) If you accidentally sneeze on your monitor do you use your sleeve or clean it properly?

3) Have you ever had a power surge, black out, or computer malfunction of some kind that ruined a lot of your work?

Thirded.

Also, when someone gets hired at Bethesda Game Studios or Bethesda Softworks, is there any kind of initiation? Like my brother-in-law recently got hired at an insurance agency and on his first day of work he had to sing a song to the whole team. Anything like that?

1-Has making games desensitized the fun you had playing games than before you got into the business?

2-What other type of genre is your favorite, and what is your favorite game in that genre?

Yep, re-asking this. I always regret not cleaning my screen properly right away.

So, about the game industry...

When looking for a job in the game industry, in regards to programming, does a portfolio help? Can you simply show off some stuff you have coded? Or is education basically the only way to break into the field?

Of course portfolio helps. What industry wants is skills, not random titles. Although i believe actual education counts to some degree.

Not friendly at ALL.

I tried introducing myself, and it just made fun of my clothes, and my mom, and then knocked all the books out of my hands.
