Meet the Devs #8

Hello!

Any of you guys been in Norway? :D

And In bloodmoon I saw you guys used very much celtic and norse mythology as inspirasjon, Hircine is clearly based a little on Cernunnos, the horned god of the forest and also considered by some to be a god of the underworld in Celtic mythology. Same goes for the udyrfrykte( im from norway so I smiled when i read the name, since it means monster and fear in norwegian). Clearly based on the tale of Beowulf. I think this is so cool :D

Hope you guys bring back Hircine in skyrim! that would have been epic as h...!

But really, what games did you play that made you say "I think I'll make games for a living", and how did you end up at Bethesda?

I think it was the King's Quest games that got me saying I wanted to make games for a living, but SimCity 2000 was the first one I really broke down, took apart, and figured out how it worked.

I ended up here when my last project got canceled and I was looking for a way to move back east. I had always loved Bethesda's games, so I was really lucky to have some friends-of-friends over here that hooked me up with the interview. I don't know if the interview was an int check or a cha check, but either way, I passed. :-)

What is a "day at the office" like for you guys? Could you give a basic (or extremely detailed, your choice!) rundown of what you do each day at work? Or does it change so often that it cannot be summarized?

It changes a lot. I might spend the day doing dialogue rewrites, debugging some overly-complicated script I wrote, helping a programmer track down a bug, working with an artist on some concept, or playing other people's content for feedback.

Does your job work well with the ladies?
Did you see my "Plumbing Guild" thread, and if so, did you find it funny (and the fact that it got numerous other threads locked)?

Sim City 2000? PS1? Played it still have it. Among the best SIm City's If you ask me. Those kind of games are such fun you start out with scratch, and then have an Empire. Yes Arena was just going to be another Gladiator game, You and a team of fighters would fight other teams in their arena, trying to acheive Grand Champion in the Worlds Capital, The Imperial City.
"Everything starts from scratch, it's how you use that scratch to build a Empire. What is an Empire without a starting point? That is not an Empire at all."

Three Words: Skyrim Benchmark Tool?

Would it be so out of the question to get one like there is for games such as Just Cause 2, STALKER: Call of Pripyat, Resident Evil 5, H.A.W.X. or Final Fantasy: XIV?

...it could bring in more PC users into the fold.

Do any of you have a game that you always keep in mind when you're doing your particular job? A game that does that particular aspect you work on so well that you're always trying to make your work come closer and closer to matching that game's quality? If so, what game is it and why?

So, who got tanked out of their tree this New Year's? Any funny or moderately embarrassing stories to tell?

I played board games with the non-alcoholic crowd, a yearly NYE tradition. The games: Power Grid and Pandemic - both were very fun.

On a side note... What is/are your favorite board games?

I probably would have hinted it to my family, at least - I'd never be able to keep a lid on that :o

My question: Terran, Zerg or Protoss?

I play all three pretty well. I enjoy the Zerg the most, but I'm better at playing the Terrans.
