Meet the Devs #8

Post » Wed Oct 13, 2010 3:18 am

With Skyrim's announcement on Saturday, we're excited to open up our latest Bethesda Game Studios' Meet The Devs thread. This thread is your opportunity to get to know the developers working on Skyrim. Should be fun as you'll run into some familiar friends, as well as plenty of new folks to the team.

Please keep in mind this thread is NOT for asking questions to the developers related to Skyrim. There will be a time to ask questions, but not yet, and not in this series of threads. Our amazing forum moderators will keep an eye on posts that aren't in line with the theme of the thread.

Just wanted to post a quick hello to everyone on the forums. Thanks for being here and keeping TES going. Yes, we read a lot of it, and have been for a long time. It's great to finally see a "V - Skyrim" section on here along with Morrowind and Oblivion. Like you, we're fans too, and we're just as excited about this game. The whole team at BGS has been giving this their all for the last several years. The next 11 months should be fun, and this is a great place for the team to hear from you. No, we can't give away info early, so don’t bait us into trouble!

Thanks again for all your support, not just now, but for the last 16 years.

todd

What were some of your favorite games of 2010, and/or most anticipated games of 2011?

[Obligatory "other than Skyrim" phrase]

Did you always have a love for video games or did games grow on you as you aged?

Thanks for taking the time to continue the "Meet the Devs". I have two questions:

When Skyrim is released, what type of celebration do everybody at the studio(s) do? Do you guys pop champagne like you won a championship game? Does everybody get a championship ring? I'm not sure if there was any celebration held when Oblivion came out. If there was, what was it about?

Also

In Meet the Devs #6, Slateman put in my request to M'aiq about my Christmas wishlist for some Nikes, a sammich and a lucky Khajiit's foot. All I got from M'aiq was a pair of FILA, some Khajiit hair and no sammich. This man lied to me and should be punished.

Speaking of BaptisingBrawler's Martial Arts question what Martial Arts influences some of the Techniques on your games. I am a black belt in Karate and do Kendo so I have a way with swords. My Sensei was the one who performed the moves on the very first Street Fighter games. By the way Todd Howard you haven't aged at all it looks like in the past few years (Looking forward to that Oblivion movie wish I could be the star, heck, just for The Elder Scrolls I would do it for free. Though hope this is not a rumor, a Mass Effect and Halo movie is coming out 2012. I'm sure your studio could do better because after all it's "The Elder Scrolls.")
By the way I read the Infernal City has the Mages guild actually been split into two divisions, the College of Whispers and The Synod. Did Greg Keyes follow his own path into the making or was he guided by your team Todd Howard? Lokking forward to meeting the other members of the team. Also is your partnership with 2k still great? I know you worked with them and Take-Two Interactive(Stinks what EA Games did to them) and do you still work with Ubisoft sometimes? Do you guys still talk to Julian Lefay who is called the Father of The Elder Scrolls?
Well time for me too log off, I've had this name ie Camonna Tong that I got from The Elder Scrolls on my 360 account ps3 account and many more online social networks. But I do agree with Todd I don't get Facebook not of much interest with me, good idea just don't get it.

What is a "day at the office" like for you guys? Could you give a basic (or extremely detailed, your choice!) rundown of what you do each day at work? Or does it change so often that it cannot be summarized?

Thanks for being awesome! :batman:

Don't think I can site it but I can send you the site via PM Zenimax also bought the license for Fallout Movie and TV show.
Because on some sites siting it against the rules don't want to get in trouble if it is on here.

With the upcoming release of TES V: Skyrim, will we be seeing the release of any official Bethesda branded merchandise available for purchase?

(I must profess my really devoted fan-ism!)

By Azura, by Azura, by Azura! It's the developers of the Elder Scrolls series, I can't believe your here in this thread, listening to me.

But really, what games did you play that made you say "I think I'll make games for a living", and how did you end up at Bethesda?
