Meet the Devs #9

Post » Thu May 12, 2011 12:59 am

I was in an area designated for viewing all the different creatures/characters and stuff like that. Everything in there is supposed be static, so there is a ton of things in there including items and what not. I was testing a sword and I hit a dragon by accident that is not supposed to even be active, well he got pissed off and laid waste to everything and killed me. So basically, I am pretty sure Im the only one in the studio who was killed in a simple area used to test art.

Haha entertaining story and easter egg material. It would be cool to find a char broiled body/skeleton somewhere with reference to your name(would be even cooler if you could actually place it in the test room, for us to find once we discover the location of it)

That's awesome!

How do you do the Blood Ties mission in Fallout 3 without getting slaughtered by Radscorpions?

Edit: What do you think of my fanart/psychic skills (the first picture was created before the announcement)?

What do you guys think to yourselves when reading the ridiculous amount of QQ posts concerning the little amount of information we know about Skyrim?

1.When should we expect the Elder Scrolls Web site to change back to normal/new?
2.Do you ever get to talk/meet Todd Howard, or is he like the Illusive Man?
3.Do you play Oblivion or Fallout often?
4.What do you like most about your job?

To the character/ environment modelers:
1. Is the job nearly as fun as just freely making things? (of course with a deadline)

2. Does experience in Blender 3D help at all?

3. Do you have to be able to draw well to be a character/ environment modeler?

I asks these qusetions because I want to become a character or environment modeler and hopefully work for Bethesda. Thanks in advance for answers if given.

One morning last week I was driving down 270 and passed the ZeniMax building around 6:00 am. There were at least 3 cars in the parking lot. Were these people at work REALLY EARLY, or REALLY LATE?

To answer both questions, there was a TF2 tournament (the winner got some cake), and that's why they were out so late.

Just kidding, I don't work at Beth and I have no idea why they were out so early.
Or why there isn't a TF2 tournament...
I like these meet the devs forums. I already asked a few questions, so I won't repost them.

Hmm... Have you ever tried mixing drinks and found something that you like? I find the results of mixing Gatorade and Ginger Ale to be awesome.

Recently I have been having chest-pains. Should I see my cardiologist? I am reluctant to, because he is a total scammer and I don't feel like seeing 20 times to be "100% sure" and paying hundreds in co-pays and letting my insurance company loosing thousands.

Do you use many real life people as models (personality or physical apperance) for npc's in game, like family friends and the like. Are there any particular npc's that you are attached to in the TES series.

I liked the idea and I wasn't very happy in my old retail job.

Aside from the obvious "working on games" aspect, the working environment and people here are the best I have ever seen or even heard of. It's just generally a great place to work even when things are in crunch and everyone is stressed out.
That's awesome that you get along so well with your coworkers. There are quite a few people at my hospital I work at that I can't stand. In fact, this one conceited girl I work with on 2nd shift, I took her sandwich from the fridge while she was out and took it to the bathroom down the hall and wiped it on the edge of the urine-stained toilet seat. It was disgusting. Then I blew my nose on the meat and spit on it. After that, I put it back in the fridge. Then today she came in and ate the whole thing. sweet victory. I take it you've never hated any of your coworkers that much to be so diabolical, eh, Dan Ross?

  • I must confess that the thought of trying to get in the game business have crossed my mind more than once. Since I'm studying a technical degree I will be learning C,C++ & C#, but are there any other languages you would recommend an aspiring programmer to pick up as well?

  • Are there any books about programming, design or game theory that you would recommend for the interested? I have dabbled a little with very basic AI and found it most enjoyable (at least when I got it to work) and game theory in general is very interesting.

  • How was your first day at work for Bethesda?

  • So... tell us a little about some of the wildest shenanigans that have taken place in the office. I can imagine the pent up stress from crunch-time sometimes gets channeled in absurd ways. ^^

Now I've been wondering about this for a long time...

Is Barbas, Clavicus Vile's hound, Creeper, the merchant scamp from Morrowind?
