Meet the Devs #10

Post » Wed Jan 19, 2011 2:42 pm

With Skyrim's announcement on Saturday, we're excited to open up our latest Bethesda Game Studios' Meet The Devs thread. This thread is your opportunity to get to know the developers working on Skyrim. Should be fun as you'll run into some familiar friends, as well as plenty of new folks to the team.

Please keep in mind this thread is NOT for asking questions to the developers related to Skyrim. There will be a time to ask questions, but not yet, and not in this series of threads. Our amazing forum moderators will keep an eye on posts that aren't in line with the theme of the thread.

Just wanted to post a quick hello to everyone on the forums. Thanks for being here and keeping TES going. Yes, we read a lot of it, and have been for a long time. It's great to finally see a "V - Skyrim" section on here along with Morrowind and Oblivion. Like you, we're fans too, and we're just as excited about this game. The whole team at BGS has been giving this their all for the last several years. The next 11 months should be fun, and this is a great place for the team to hear from you. No, we can't give away info early, so don’t bait us into trouble!

Thanks again for all your support, not just now, but for the last 16 years.

todd

Are ya'll using the wintry weather we've been getting to do some additional research for Skyrim?

Where in Skyrim would you like to live? Where in Tamriel?

Which quests did you particularly enjoy in Oblivion, whether it be designing or playing through them?

Ask sincerely, please...

...is your office always as inmaculate as it is in the "Behind the Scenes" video, or you just tidied it up in order to make it, and the rest of the days is a complete disaster?

Assuming you can talk about it, what has been the greatest challenge during development on Skyrim?

And if you'll indulge me, got any tips for someone studying to be a game designer? It's kind of a big and very open question but I might as well ask.

White Russians are amazing. I usually make mine too strong, though...

My question for the devs:

What are your experiences working on such a highly-anticipated project? Does all the speculation and fervor from fans ever become overwhelming?

How did you get into the game industry? Would you advise going to a design school, studying art, or just bumming through college as a liberal arts/finance major? :P

Hi guys,

Anyone actually asked a question on here that didn't involve your personal daily routine or how to take your job?

If Todd and Pete got into a fight who would win? How long would they be in jail? How many skill points would they lose per day?

Rocky Road or Chunky Monkey? Which would you rather drive on?

Have you ever found a lost iPod at work and actually listened to it trying to figure out which co-worker downloaded (18) CDs of bagpipe music?

Ever made your own tomato ketchup? Intentionally?

How is the excitement level for your projects normally? Meaning are you excited about a project in the beginning of production with a lull in the middle followed by a high for example.
Basically your over all enthusiasm for a project from concept to release?

Hey there all you wonderful Devs, who's working in the greatest game of all time :)

Have any of you Devs every been to Denmark? If yes; What do you think about Denmark? Is it a nice place? Did you have a good vacation there, what did you see and all that? If no; Would you want to visit Denmark some place in the future? Do you think it could be a great place to visit? Any things you want to see in Denmark, if you have plans on visiting Denmark?

What kind of music do you Devs listen to? Any metal? Please, do list a couple of bands and what you think about 'em and so on.. :)
Do any of you Devs listen to Bob Marley? If yes, please describe what you like about his music.

Who is your favourite villian of all time?

Guitar or bass?

What hair color do you prefer on a woman/man? :P

Have any of you Devs watched LOST? What's your thoughts about the series?

Actually, I've got another question.

If you could have any license in the world, any franchise you want. Which one would you pick for a game?

My two favorite quests of all time from any RPG are Whodunit? and Paranoia from Oblivion. (I'm hoping of course that there will be some quests on this level of brilliance and fun in Skyrim.)

I'm wondering if any of you can share any info about where the idea came for either of these two great quests.

Druid actually - and kinda sad at some of Blizzard's changes to our core mechanics lately. But I figure they know what they're doing. :)
