I actually have a question(s) for you reguarding your job. (Or at least title here) Is Video Producer a full time job? What do you do when your not making a video? Or are you always, since Bethesda always has several games they are publishing in progress at once... Do you just hop from game to game making all sorts of videos? Do you do any work for random people for free ever, or are you all business? Did you make the Skyrim trailer? (I mean edit of course) And what about the NV trailers? Ok, I'm done pelting you with questions now.
It’s actually such a full-time job that there are now two of me (so to speak)—there’s ALWAYS something to make, whether it’s intended for the public (trailers, online ads/pre-roll, TV advertisemants, etc.) or not (ratings reels, game demo videos, and other super-secret stuff). So yes, we’re hopping around making different videos for all our games pretty much all the time.
I don’t do any freelance work outside of gamesas though. I get my creative outlet at work, so at home I just want to relax and not worry about deadlines. I wouldn’t say I’m “all-business” though, even AT work—we like to have fun/be silly with video at the office from time to time.
I’m not sure how much I can say specifically about the Skyrim announcement trailer, so I’ll just say I did help. As for Fallout:NV, I made the gameplay portion of the E3 2010 trailer (the one with ED-E), but the Dead Money trailer was made exclusively by my counterpart
sal go, and she did a bang-up job on it.
