Meet the Devs #12

Has anyone ever come up with an idea, shown it to the programmers and they pretty much went. "No. Just...no."?
Have any of the modelers ever used Blender? If so, what do they think of it compared to 3DS Max?

I like this question.

Is modeling for a company as fun as free lance modeling? Does the deadline force you to take out some unecesary details?

Where will you all go on vacation to in 2011?

What is your favorite zoo animal?

Free animal?

If you were a bird, which bird would you be?

Favorite comfort food?

First video game you played? What system?

How old where you when you played your first video game.

Developers. Or that's what I always thought...

Yes, the abbreviation is obvious, but the meaning isn't necessarily obvious. I'm a business app developer and in my line of work "devs" are specifically the programmers, while "designers" refer to the art-related roles. I wasn't sure if "dev" in the gaming world also refers to the people that script the stories and perhaps is extended to "designers" and possibly "managers" as well. Anyway, it doesn't really matter - my questions are directed at the programmers specifically.

Favorite haircut? That you have or someone else pulls off right.

Favorite media of art? That you use or appreciate.

Favorite era in history that you like to study or maybe live in.

Favorite game series, I guess ICO/Shadow of the Colossus, since they're from the same team and their stories tie together. And yes, I have an Xbox live account, but it's silver, as I never play multiplier games.

EDIT: Multiplayer, iPad. Multiplayer.

What's a multiplier game? Does it multiply when you're not looking? :hubbahubba:

Does everyone at the office get to have a say in development? I'm talking about people such as cooks, janitors, ect.

1. I'm going to Disney World for band over Spring Break
2. Meerkats and Monkeys FTW
3. I'd be a Flying Purple People Eater
4. Potatoes and Cookies
5. I believe it was one of the N64 games, probably Super Smash Brothers or Mario Kart. It may have also been an original Gameboy Game, if it was, then it was Wario World.
I was but a mere lad at the time, probably about 3 years old at most.

If you were stranded on a deserted island, and for the fun of it, let's say the island is called...oh I don't know...hmmmmmmm...let me think here...well let's call it Roscrea, yes Roscrea; a truly fitting name for an 'expansive' island...ahem. So, if you were stranded on a deserted island named Roscrea, what three things would you want to have with you? :whistling:

Oh, I see what you did there. :D

With the fighting genre coming back in full swing, what is your favorite fighting game series? And who is your favorite character in that series?

Mine would have to be Mortal Kombat because the first one on snes was the first game I really got into. With Scorpion being my favorite character. :)

Which is more important to you in the office.. where the nearest bathroom is.. where the nearest coffee is or where the nearest doughnut is. How far away are they in that order?

If there is an elevator at work does it play elevator music or elder scrolls/fallout music or is it silent?

What is the creepiest part of the office building?

Is there any part of the building no one has ever been in that you know of? Or any part of it you wonder what the heck is in there?

What is directly below you and what is directly above you or do you know....

Does Ubisoft have any influence on you guys at Bethesda? Or the other way around? Or is the relationship mutual?

It's nice to have an excuse to take a walk -- considering my job consists of sitting at a desk, I like the chance to get up and move for a bit. So the fact that I'm tucked in a corner that's very far away from all those things is a blessing in disguise.

Our elevator plays no music except the MUSIC OF YOUR DOOM when it gets stuck.

The aforementioned elevator.

Oh man, I was going to make an awesome joke here, but it would be a spoiler for Skyrim.

2. Does your chair make a creeking noise when you rock back and fourth? If so do you like to annoy the other office personel with the creeks?

3. Do you ever play jokes on Todd?

4. Do the toilets ever over flow?

5. Who has the biggest monitor?
