3. do you need to ask for permission to go to the restroom, or is it more like a free roaming place?

This is addressed to your sound and foley folks.

Urban legend has it that in Star Wars the sound they ended up using for the pew pew laser blasts was made by recording the sound of hitting a guy wire that supported a phone pole (and most likely using multiple tracks of other stuff stacked in.)

Q - Please give us some cool stories and or techniques you've used to sample some of your sound effects in your career - (not necessarily Skyrim related if they are spoilers of course.)

Q - Also, how much do you use libraries of sounds compared to making your own from scratch?

The reason I'm asking is that I've been a musician since I was 12 and have done a fair share of writing, producing and recording in the studio. I've always felt that foley would be so much fun, stimulating and really would allow you to be insanely creative or inventive coming up with different ways to record and sample stuff. (I could ask questions about this for hours, but I'll force myself to limit it to this, lol.)

Do the writers get along with the programers? Or is there some group dynamic rivalry going on?

Has anyones stapler been put into jello recently?

How are the writers chosen to work for Bethesda?

Who wrote that short story about the silence spell and the wife? :P

And who wrote the Argonian maid? Is there a resident perv at Bethesda, or just a group of people who like writing funny things? And if so, can I join in? :icecream: I will bring cupcakes. Just saying.

And for the love of Skyrim; Charmander, Bulbasaur, or Squirtle?

Just a quick thank you to the Bethesda crew. Your games have given me a lot of inspiration in terms of my writing and film making. A lot of the work I do is based around your styles of storytelling, and the types of characters you create in your games, not just TES, but Fallout as well. It really is a fantastic series. Can't wait for the next installment. Keep up the brilliant work. Take care guys!

After you release the game. Are you waiting for the more, ahem "in lesser taste mods" to show up or make them yourself? ;) I'm kidding. Don't answer that.

Are you excited about the graphical progress or just seeing it as more work?

Very excited, I dont see it as more work. Actually we look forward to it. You guys should see the source art if we could put that directly into a game you guys would go crazy with happiness

Wasn't Christiane involved with the horses for Oblivion?

Also, when a game you've worked on ships- How do you feel about it? As in, are you relieved, excited, disappointed?

I equate it to giving birth :D You are relieved, excited and then you go through just a bit of post partum, but then you are too busy working on DLC to let that get out of hand.

Well, you're one of my favorites, but to answer your question, it's because taking part in making such a great game. You probably spent ALOT of time with making characters...

By the way, in what role do you do as of designing (ex) modeling, texturing, animating? I myself start courses on modeling, sculpting, and all that next year in California. Been modeling for almost 3 years now :)

Going to take some time getting used to California btw :(

In regards to the industry, is having a nice portfolio enough? Would a studio turn me down if I didn't have some sort of education in the field?

Meant to answer your question before and I missed it.
It doesnt hurt to have education in the field but honestly most of the best individuals I know are pretty much self taught. I do think however that going to school and learning core art skill such as art and sculpting definitely will improve your abilities.

Well thanks for that :)
Im responsible for the design, modeling and texturing always with input and feedback from the very talented people around me. I have grown quite a bit in my trade thanks to them actually.

I think its great that your starting courses in those things, its a great plus. Always be open to constructive feed back and you will grow by leaps and bounds. Keep yourself busy in your work and it will help you get used to your surroundings. Actually I would also say to go explore them. Its fun (at least for me) and its the best way to get to know them which will help you get used to them ;-)

You character artists are amazing.

Do you ever find that something you're working on at Bethesda inspires you to start a personal 3D project at home (perhaps a similar creature type or just a similar fantasy setting), without the restrictions of game optimisation and deadlines?

Or is Max/Mudbox/Photoshop's interface the last thing you want to see after 8 25 hours of work? :P

Is it harder developing a game during the early stages, or later when your fixing bugs?

Oh and why? Haha

make sure that undead dungeons are just plain horrifying and make you feel uneasy to be there like a thousand lifeless eyes are peering at you

I have one question, With all the hours and work you guys put into the games- and often have to watch your hard work get cut from the final game :'( - Do any of you ever regret going into the gaming business? Is there something else that you had planned/dreamed of doing?
