Thunderjunk/vsions, what's your view on the Elder scrolls II Daggerfall? I bet you devs know all about 'em old classics. Also, are you worried about the fact that the PSN had no firewalls prior to these recent attacks on it?

I can't believe you wore a Bethesda shirt in your Bethesda Interview.
That's like wearing the shirt of the band you're going to see

Guess...

Represent man!!

That was you eh? I saw that predator statue in the back. I got my brother it for christmas 2 years ago. He already broke one of the talons on his blade. :glare:

***

Do you guys ever create content (scripts/quests/3d objects) that don't make the final cut of the game? Not like concept work, but fully produced stuff that may conflict with something else..or needs to be taken out for an undetermined purpose?

Could you share one from a previous game? (Fallout, TES)

It does happen, I have a couple of things I wanted to get in but couldnt and I created art for :(

What is your favourite race in the TES-series and why?

Mine is personally Dark Elf. Morrowind made them so special to me :)

Maybe I should stalk your offices, attempt to pry game knowledge and all that and gain a reputation as "that one crazy stalker kid", though I doubt Irrational Games will let me near them for a while after...well...yeah...

Shhh! That's what I'm going for!

Go on...

Agree with Thunderjunk. Skyrim.

Python's not really a game language -- it's a general purpose language that sometimes gets used for games. I think for AAA games you're much more likely to see Lua/Squirrel/some in-house custom thing.

If you're looking to learn to program, Python can be a great start. If you want to get serious, though, at some point you're going to have to learn C/C++, memory management, all that fun low-level stuff. But if you're just trying to see if programming is something fun you'd like to do, check out Dive Into Python and go nuts!

Thanks man! It's definitely something I'm interested in.

double post.

But yes, I want to get into the gaming industry, and looking at different languages is something I'm doing now. I know that most games are made with C++ which is something I'd have to learn eventually :P. But hey, before Python I was learning BASIC!

Hey Vsions, lets dwell on a past experience you mentioned long ago . How did it feel to be killed by a dragon in the testing zone when it's AI was supposed to be turned off?

Recently (Maybe even today) the list of games that will be featured in the Smithsonian's "Art of Games" exhibit were released. In what was dubbed the "Fifth Era" of gaming, Modern Windows platform, the title selection for "Adventure" was none other than Bethesda Game Studio's Fallout 3. http://americanart.si.edu/exhibitions/archive/2012/games/winninggames.pdf

I'm curious as to what (if any) the reaction has been, and what's the overall feel about the exhibit itself. Do you think this is a step on the road to legitimizing the medium as an art to the masses? Is it even appropriate for gaming to tread in that direction? Any personal favorites that made the list? Any you feel should have?

Very happy reaction. I very much believe videogames are art. I also believe that the people who say it isnt are threatened by it because they cant connect/understand it.

heh, are you in for a treat...

Hmmm.. what does this cryptic message mean?! Will the Dark Elves be awesome?! Can't wait :D

Btw, is it you, vsions, that have made the Dark Elves in Skyrim?

On a note: Also sounds really interesting with the racial conflicts in Skyrim between Elves and Nords. Can't wait for more info to come on that later... or until I experience it in the game ^^

I fell victim to the hype-mania that is "vsions cryptic quotes" on http://www.gamesas.com/index.php?/topic/1181898-new-mystery-pics-thread-5/page__p__17518859__fromsearch__1#entry17518859

Never again!
*must resist hype*
*searches frantically for bottle of hype prevention meds*

Gosh! Umm.. so these dark elves are gonna look pretty sick, huh? Can't wait to see some new screens!
