Mega Man

Post » Fri Jun 11, 2010 6:39 am

Thread about Mega Man.

I would like to start off the thread with a different approach to the man that was Dr. Wily. Was he truly evil, or was he mankinds "dark knight"?
http://www.destructoid.com/dr-wily-the-man-who-tried-to-save-the-world-199795.phtml

Things to discuss:

The Robot Masters
Tips and Tricks
Speculation
Etc.

Might there be a reveal for Mega Man 11 or another X title at this years E3? I hope so!

I played the original Legends on the N64 (called Megaman 64 on that) and it's probably my favorite N64 game. I heard there's another Legends coming on DS though.

There may be Legends 3 on the 3DS if players express enough interest in the demo which will be available on the 3DS store sometime in the future. If you have a PS1 or PS2, you might wanna find and check out Legends 2. The one for the 3DS will be Legends 3.

I thought Mega Man 10 was easier than Mega Man 9. MM9 had me cursing up a storm :P

I think i'll buy Megaman 9 too once PSN get back up. I do have the "Megaman Anniversary Collection" for PS2, and played a bit of MM4 the other night. I was utterly shocked at how much easier the levels were than MM10's  An old game, easier than it's recent sequel?! That's like saying you can now breathe water!

Capcom went with the fans when they wanted a game as difficult as MM2. MM9 and 10 both play like MM2. You don't even have a Mega Buster! I miss that thing. I have the Anniversary Collection for Xbox. I wish the X collection had been released for Xbox. I would really like for Capcom to put some of the older games on the XBLA and PSN networks in the future, especially Legends. Its so hard to find nowadays.

I never played MM2, but i did the first and third. Those were hell, especially the first one. And Gemini Man's level still has the best background music :D

Gemini Man is still my favorite boss in the original series. Once this youtube profile I frequent gets back up (youtube keeps reporting an error), I'll link some cool Mega man remixes.

EDIT: It seems that all youtube profiles are down, not just the one I wanted to link :(

I loved both of them and I'm a little peeved that MML3 is coming to the 3DS, a system I DO NOT WANT, and not to the console systems.

I wasn't crazy about legends 2, but thats because i wasn't crazy about the playstation in general. I still am not..its that blasted controller!

Some of the later megamans for the playstation are amazingly well rendered for a simple sprite platformer.

Mega Man Legends 3 looks http://www.capcom-unity.com/gregaman/blog/2011/05/04/barrett:_action_hero, and the Prototype Version should be released any day now. Nintendo better hurry up and get that eShop up and running.

I love what Capcom is doing with it though, the whole "fan-developed" thing. They knew it'd be a game for the fans and they're letting us shape it into something we want, rather than most developers just doing their own thing, ignoring fans in the process. Shame the game hasn't been green-lit though. If Capcom ends up canceling it I'll be pretty bummed.

A Mega Man game without Mega Man? Or is this because Mega Man is still stuck on Elysium?

Barret is the playable character in Prototype Version, which is essentially an early build of the game that Capcom is using to gauge interest in the game. It'll be ~$2 on the 3DS eShop once it launched this month, though they've said sales won't necessarily matter so much as the hype it generates.

From what I understand, PV is basically a prologue that takes place during the time Roll and Tron are finishing the rocket to go rescue Mega Man. They'll be holding another vote to finalize Mega Man's appearance in the game and he'll definitely be the main character of the final game.

I semi-recently acquired the Mega Man and MMX collections, and played through almost the entire series in a row. I was pleased that apparently my ability to play harder old games has not completely evaporated, but...I could not beat the Yellow Devil in the first game without the cheap pause glitch. That thing is a nightmare.

I can't beat Wily's Castle in the original without using the pause glitch on just about every boss. The lag in the original NES version makes it damn near impossible to dodge attacks and work within the boss' pattern. :meh:

I also can't beat Mega Man 5 or 6 either, so I guess I just svck. :P

I always have trouble with the Yellow Devil. That thing is a nightmare.

I also dislike the dragon on MM2, I always fall off the blocks while fighting it.

Same here. Still pull that one out from time to time. Love that game. I know some people say that it is inferior to the playstation version, but having never played that version, the game has always been as it should be. :D

I recently played through most of Mega Man and Mega Man X collections. I actually didn't have as much trouble with Mega Man 2, as I did with MMX4. The Final Fight with sigma was a nightmare. Took me many tries before I was finally able to crush him like a bug. Didn't bother replaying through as Zero. Not really fond of playing as Zero actually. Don't like his up close fighting style to be honest.

Never got to play any of the other Mega Man games, like Mega Man Zero or Mega Man ZX/advent, or legends. What are the Starforce Mega Mans like? anything interesting?

Has anyone tried some of the optional content in MM9 and 10? I'm a big fan of the Endless Attack mode and I'm currently climbing the ladder for MM9.

Sure it seems easy enough, then the game throws a curveball at you and really tests your skill. I cannot even come CLOSE to my record score of 430. I got halfway there but then slipped into some spikes.

I hate those darn spikes.

Mega Man & Bass is my favorite of the 16-bit games. It was a Japan-only SNES game up until 2003 when it was ported to the GBA, however they cropped the resolution which really hurt the gameplay considering how big the sprites are. I wish Capcom would release the SNES version on Virtual Console or something.

I just moved up to Rank 61 on MM9 Endless Attack! Woot! Time to give it a break and try again later. STOOPID SPIKES GOT ME! I was clearly holding left... the game cheated.
