Megaton, why blow it up?

Post » Wed May 02, 2012 10:13 pm

I Think the idea of blowing up meagaton , is giving the player a chance to get to grips with the karma interface idea because you can blow meagaton up doesn't mean you should right ? but thats why they did it so that you can decide wether to be good or bad either blow up meagaton or stop mister burke and have prosperity. :)

You never harvested the little sisters?
But... It's fun to tear them open! :D

Hm, I loved _______ them on ____ in Postal 2 and I got a mod for Skyrim to kill ____ and it's great fun to pierce through the torso of a _ year old ___ with a twohanded sword. xD

Child killing is not allowed to be discussed on these boards. :grad:
But nobody said we couldn't play a game of hang man.

The game really, other than cash, never gives any reason to blow up Megaton. Thus making Tenpenny (like many chars in FO3) a [censored] without any background.
It's even used to, misleadingly, put some moral ambiguity in other Tenpenny related quests...
I've had my character blow up Megaton, but always with my own (made up) backstory.. The game itself never allows you to make a "semi-rational" choice..based on the information in the game.. (other than RPing as a complete money lovin' psycho)
FO:NV at least makes you ponder and even allows you to discuss the options with both parties.. and (one might argue) has benefits..other than karma..

Wait... aren't YOU the one who NEEDS a GOOD reason to blow up Megaton? Yet you install mods like that? o.0 Woah, someone has his priorities messed up here! LOL

Anyway, I decided to kill Burke and Tenpenney. I'm not going to blow up my safe haven! I like my junky old Megaton house! It suits me just fine and with the pre-war theme, it's even homey! Now, I just wish the pre-war theme would have changed my nasty old mattress into a nice bed. -.- I never modded anything, so I wouldn't even know where to start, in order to change some small details like that. LOL

I don't think I'll ever blow up Megaton. Well, maybe blow it up once, just to see what it looks like, but then reload my game. LOL

Never going to blow up Megaton  ? Thats just sick and wrong. Atleast once is what I recomend. But ya even if your evil , there are reasons not to.

On the mod thing , that would be way easy , once you get a feel for the GECK. But then youll find yourself probably changeing all kinds of things. And thats the beauty of this game plus the GECK.
Once youve had your fill of adventureing in this world(atleast for a moment) Then you can explore all the ways to modify it and be entertained for days (if you like that sort of thing)

I myself have only modded on 2 other games (not real extensively) StarCraft,Novalogic Black hawk down, and now this one. Although it seems to be the hardest of the 3 ... its not insurmountable ... just takes time and research. They do a pretty good job in the tutorials.

If you havent downloaded the GECK yet , you should ... its great for just looking stuff up ... It wont spoiler anything in an obvious fashion , unless you know what your looking for specifically.

LOL I thought blowing up Megaton was SICK and WRONG!! Sheesh people!! LOL

Yea, I just looked over the Geck wiki. It seems all rather daunting to me. I played Oblivion for years with all sorts of mods, but I never personally touched the Construction Set. I may have to try my hands on the Geck. The tuts do look well detailed. :)

On my first playthrough I did it simply to kill Moira Brown. I hate that annoyingly cheerful [censored] with a passion & if a whole town had to die just so there would be no witnesses to her murder, then so be it. Just a shame she was the only survivor :(

I actually like Moira, the wasteland needs someone who is cheerful!
But I found no reason to destroy the central hub of the game!

Why would I want to kill dozens of innocent people?

To quote the Persona 4 villain; "I did that stuff 'cause I could. And it got interesting, so I watched.

*resisting the urge to make an inappropriate comment*

There is no real reason given in to blow up Megaton. No real reason to do it, other than "cause we can."

What a tattle tale :meh: ... JKing

Actually I liked that it has more than the 2 options when I stumbled on to it.
The other one ... by means of the black widow perk. I never waited long enough I guess (lost that save) to know how it was gona play out.
