I'm hearing some people say Mel Gibson died but I couldn't find anywhere that said he died can somebody clarify this for me?

I thought Braveheart was excellent. Mel just hates Brits, probably something to do with him being Australian.

Anyway, Mel is one those very rare actors which are equally loved by both men and women. That alone makes him untouchable.

It's not his acting that's the problem...

Yeah I was kinda trying to just work around his personal issues, what with the racism and just being insane....

On the other hand, I really truthfully don't much care for his acting.

At least his directing is decent though.

I'll reluctantly give him that, though. :P

I think the rumors are fashioned from the loose definition of 'dead'.

Career? √
Reputation? √
Worm food?

Well, in Andy's defense he did throw a lot of vowels into substantiate. Irritable vowel syndrome? :hehe:

Likely an internet rumor. Wait until the 5:00PM news (On TV) and you'll know for sure. The internet is full of rumors and though not perfect by any chance, the TV networks usually do their homework enough to know for *sure* whether or not someone has died.

Tell that to... Dang... Forgot his name. Last year the media raved about some celebrity being dead and some news agency jumped the gun because they wanted the story first and didn't verify it and most other news agencies followed suit.

Verbal diarrhea.

HEY! :stare:

My diarrhea might make noises, but it's a far cry from being verbal yet, okay?

as for Mel's career and reputation being tanked, he has a billion- err, half a billion buck guys, he don't care no more...

..and so does Robyn, now. And she's single too <-- LAs newest most-desired cougar

No he's not dead and hopefully he doesn't become that way.

P.S.

I still stand by Mel... Mental breakdown blown outta proportion.

Eh, not really. In an interview in like 1993 for a spanish newspaper he went on a homophobic rant, then there was that time he got drunk and started talking about a zionist conspiracy starting all the wars, some chalked this up to him being drunk but I question this since I find it hard to imagine, I mean, at what point between drinks do you suddenly start thinking that there's a jewish zionist conspiracy in control of the government that starts all the wars? This plus the obvious anti semitism in Passion of the christ, plus all the recent stuff.

It becomes even more obvious once you find out that his father is a conspiracy theorist, a holocaust denier and an idiot who thinks that the second vatican council was a free mason plot, organised by jews.

He's also a pretty crummy actor.

 First I have heared of them, damn. Well I didnt really care about the guy, I thought he seemed ok, but if he is like you say, well he's a dike.

After google, racism, sixism, antisematism and possible abuse, one word summs this guy up [censored].

@ Aevar how was the passion anti sematic, I have seen it, didnt notice it as anti sematic, the Jews and Romans crucified Jesus, thats it, no anti sematism there, hes just telling what happened.

Right, look, no one's perfect. I think you have to give Mel a chance. He's not Omar Kadaffi. :)

Everyone says things they regret when they're drunk.
I think everything has been blown far out of proportion.

I liked him in the Patriot, Road Warrior, and Mutiny on the Bounty.

As far as dead, his career certainly is.

Betting his publicist put him up to this whole racist thing or something to get him noticed. Sad what stars will do for attention especially since their home made movies kinda tank. Course as said Mel was the freakin Road Warrior so ya gotta give him some props.

The original Mad Max (without the American actors dubbing over the Australian accents), Gallipoli, The River and The Bounty were better than his later stuff. Basically, "Australian Mel" was more compelling than what he became after he was in Hollywood awhile.

Yeah, that would only be the world's worst publicist, using that kind of thing to keep a client in the news.

I think Mel's career may well be dead, but his animated corpse will be around for a while.

I think it quite a shame that the media goes on and on about how his behavior is over the top horrible but downplays the fact that he is diagnosed as bipolar which has everything to do with it all. A manic phase can be horrible:
http://helpguide.org/mental/bipolar_disorder_symptoms_treatment.htm
Signs and symptoms of mania

In the manic phase of bipolar disorder, feelings of heightened energy, creativity, and euphoria are common. People experiencing a manic episode often talk a mile a minute, sleep very little, and are hyperactive. They may also feel like they’re all-powerful, invincible, or destined for greatness.

But while mania feels good at first, it has a tendency to spiral out of control. People often behave recklessly during a manic episode: gambling away savings, engaging in inappropriate sixual activity, or making foolish business investments, for example. They may also become angry, irritable, and aggressive–picking fights, lashing out when others don’t go along with their plans, and blaming anyone who criticizes their behavior. Some people even become delusional or start hearing voices.
Hypomania symptoms

Hypomania is a less severe form of mania. People in a hypomanic state feel euphoric, energetic, and productive, but they are able to carry on with their day-to-day lives and they never lose touch with reality. To others, it may seem as if people with hypomania are merely in an unusually good mood. However, hypomania can result in bad decisions that harm relationships, careers, and reputations. In addition, hypomania often escalates to full-blown mania or is followed by a major depressive episode.

Common signs and symptoms of mania include:

* Feeling unusually “high” and optimistic OR extremely irritable
* Unrealistic, grandiose beliefs about one’s abilities or powers
* Sleeping very little, but feeling extremely energetic
* Talking so rapidly that others can’t keep up
* Racing thoughts; jumping quickly from one idea to the next
* Highly distractible, unable to concentrate
* Impaired judgment and impulsiveness
* Acting recklessly without thinking about the consequences
* Delusions and hallucinations (in severe cases
)
Why do we treat sick folks so badly? Why do we hold them responsible even when they can not help themselves? Shouldn't he be getting help instead of having his most manic phases drug through the mud on national TV? Isn't he still a good actor? A good person who is sick? It makes me crazy that we hold mentally ill people accountable for their worst moments instead of directing or assisting to get them the help they need.

Because these types of things are UNFORGIVEABLE! Why can't people like Gibson be more tolerant?
