melee attacking hit range is too wide.

This is one of my Beta test feeling (version Feb-28 from March-2).

I like close quarter combat, especially blade fighting.

When I fought against enemy in the forest (maybe It's wolf or breton zombie).

I feel that player and enemy attacking hit range is too wide or too long

compare with actual blade length or enemy body size.

By this setting, hit and away foot step is meaningless. So, close combat lose reality.

It'll become boring turn battle.

How do you feel ?

It's fine. The range of melee weapons has to be normalized across all weapon types and mob types (generally).

As is the case with so many objections.. it's an MMO, and that forces a lot of design decisions.

I agree 100%. Footwork does not exist in this game.

They hit you when you are not even close to them. It's your typical tab target MMO style where the NPC registers that it lands an attack and no matter where you are it will hit you (unless you roll).

On the other hand, there is a little bit of footwork in PvP. If you are going to play Daggerfall Covenant PM me. My small group and I currently play Mortal Online and have a similar interest and play style as you.

Yes i am waiting for the next beta with the new patch to test combat again.

The game is beautiful the art is great and i had zero problems with the game except the combat. Its not bad not at all but it needs improvements.

I don't know if its just me but i had a little delay between my attacks and wen i fight a monster or a player doesn't feel smooth.

Also i think the dodge roll must be improved.Again i don't know if it is just me but many times mobs or players could still hit me wen i dodge.

My video game rule is first gameplay then all other things.

I disagree, at least in PvE. You shouldn't be able to kill 10 level stronger enemies just because you've mastered the art of front-back-front-back-walking. If there is a system that allows you to dodge enemy npc's normal attacks, the PvE is going to become way too easy. After a bit of training, you'd be able to just avoid 90% of enemy attacks.

Im content with being able to dodge the AoE, interrupt skills and such. And imagine playing pvp with even a bit of lag if your hit range on melee was smaller.

I just think that the current weapon range is fine, and the Pvp seems to work well (if the serverlags are taken care of).

Why not? If there were so many QA how your skill matters, wouldnt this be a proof?

Anyway, the range is fine, because with shorter range the game would be unplayable, you would spend 90% of your time seeing "missed!" both for you and enemies. Costs a bit of realism, but believe me - you dont want to try combat with 0.4m melee range.

I agree compeltely. I played a ranged DPS, and a melee character could always deal damage to me— even if I was out of range of where their swords rationally would stop. It also makes running away impossible

I was still amazed at how I could sneak attack with my sword literally 5-6 meters away from my target, once I discovered this it was laughable, it was so huge the range I was hitting them.

I can't see there being a "just right" amount of difficulty in it. Either it would make PvE laughably easy, or it wouldn't matter enough to be considered. It would make melee enemies way easier than ranged ones as well.

And with system like that, there are bound to be easy exploits, and/or some patterns that make enemies unable to hit anything. Ever.

i.... really love it when your melee range is ridiculously non-melee,

though that's from my experience with Koei's Warriors-games, you can add abilities to your weapons and when maxing out on weapon-range, you get about a fullscreen of melee-range, i can't stop thinking about Kojiro Sasaki from Orochi 2..... mwahah...

but yeah, no -i like long-range melee, since i'm a coward and prefer to hit others to being hit myself~
