I've always played a ranger or caster, just because I couldn't get into the melee style in this game. It amounted to "swing swing swing, block, swing swing, enemy's dead, start over"
I've got great hopes that we'll see revamped combat for all styles however with the new engine they're running.
Either way, keep up the great work Bethesda, can't wait to spend countless hours in this beautifully intricate world you craft.
they say it will be. (they aren't going to say; sorry it svcks this time) theyve scraqed several tried and tru mechanics. most people say don't complain just because the game is changing, but alot of us tes vetrans have heard this over and over. just because they say the change will be good, alot of things cut from MW via OB were supposed to be replaced with something just as good... and was not replaced at all. so I am reserved until I see for my self.
combat is supposed to be more tactical in Skyrim, you won't be able to abuse the same things you could in oblivion. For instance you cant run backwards anymore at the same speed as you can forwards, so you cant do the swing, backup, swing, backup tactic as you could in oblivion.
It seems combat is one of the main focuses. It also seems the ability to roleplay has been greatly improved as well.
Combat will probably be much better compared to oblivion. I can't wait to play. I'm really starting to get irritated by the fact that I can't play this game yet. I have no patients. No, I'm not waiting for Christmas, I'm going to get it release day. Gahh, I can't wait.

Yeah me too. I'm going to go out on a severed limb here  and say that Beth has nailed melee combat this time around. I'm sure it won't be without some room for improvement, but I would guess that they've made a giant's leap forward (oh the puns are making me sick  ) from what it was in Oblivion.
