Melee combat info

Please post any information about melee combat here.

I'm quite scared of how the melee comabt system will turn out to be. Will there be auto aiming (i think they mentioned this) or will you have to aim your sword yourself at the enemy. While it's hard to make a good first person combat system they could decide for the easier auto aiming combat system like Fable/AC. The downside of an auto aim system is that it completely destroys immersion. It can still be a good game, but the feeling will be drastically altered.

There won't be auto-aim, it has never been part of a TES game (correct me if wrong). Although there will be a little bit of magnetism, to make sure you hit the enemy instead of your allies if they're close.

Yeah mag is needed it was to tricky using the direction power attack to hit foes not at least I can 3d an enemy while doing pow attacks instead of walk off randomly.

Lol as long as you don't get massive coloured markers around the nearest enemy ( like you didn't 'no' that you are closest to that one and facing it?? Lock on is weak arcading last century ball baggins)

In my opinion the closest comparison to the melee combat in skyrim is playing with deadly reflex.
There will be timed block, the player will have to time the blocking properly in order to avoid being hit, shield bashes, finishing moves.
I hope that basicly it will stay the same as oblivion without any auto targeting, i love the surprises like when i'm consecrated on attacking one enemy or more and someone attack me from behind because i didnt had sufficient battle awareness.
I play OB with deadly reflex 6, and sometimes combat can be amazingly difficult.
