Is Melee legit?

Punches are too strong, they should take some energy to use, in order to explain the strength. About the area of effect, every single time I see someone using this class they aren't even facing me when they kill me, and I am facing them, shooting and melee, and yet I die, while they are facing sideways or even with their back to me.
Seems kind of off to me.
Yes it might require some skill to run around the map effectively without being seen.

IMO there shouldn't even exist melee, only backstabs (assassinations), I thought this game was about using guns and all.
The combination of lag, hit detection, area of melee, strength of melee is quite overwhelming.

I have 100 air stomp kills and have Stealth III and Mobility III and a jackal with extended mag. that's far more effective then melee IMO.

When you guys are running a melee class are you using your pistol as your primary? It has felt to me as though the pistol melee is more effective then attempting to melee with a heavier weapon.

Yes, that is why I call it the Fistol.

I do like the Fistol class!

I have an alt myself that ses Air Stomp, even though I don't find it as effective, it is funny to chain in a stomp kill or two! The lack of fall damage can help a bit, but not hugely, seeing as there's only a very small number of falls in the MP that give fatal damage on full health (jumping off the top of Pier 17, Crashed Bird, Lighthouse and Skline I think - even then just falling is usually fine), and it's very rare that it's a better option to Stomp than to just drop down and melee instead due to how badly you expose yourself.

I think as long as you have either Stealth Enhance or Mobility Enhance and a max mobility primary, it's viable, but you need both, and either Nano Recharge or Energy Transfer to get the most from it.

.

Then you do not jump off buildings very much. :)
I find it helps greatly....but I always get to the top of the map quickly to scout with my visor.
Also, No fall damage means you can keep running non stop. Very hard to do after getting hurt or armoring up to take the fall.

Actually the JAW has the best Melee - it's like you whack them with a 2x4.

Oh, I do jump off a lot, but what I do is make sure I glance the sides as I fall to slow me, and then I usually don't take any damage. No need to armour up, and never get the slam animation. The small benefit it'd give me IMO is outclassed by the reduced pit stops Nano Recharge gives me as I literally never stop running and jumping.
