Melee Nerf (Crysis 2)

Post » Sun Mar 13, 2011 9:54 am

The melee of this game seriously needs to be nerfed. Why? What needs to be done is the time delay between melees needs to be increased dramatically. In this game, you can walk up to someone and melee them twice with impunity. It takes virtually no skill at all, and when I see the kill feed with two melee kills in a row from the same person, something needs to be done.

It's a very serious issue with a very simple fix.

It's pretty well balanced Imo. If you can aim well, you can kill the guy before he gets his second melee hit.

Depends on with what weapon--if I have an automatic weapon, that's not going to happen. Even if I have a shotgun he can still kill me. I was playing earlier, and someone was circling around me because he couldn't find me, and he was just spinning and meleeing, and he managed to kill me while I was looking for him so I could shoot him. When you can do that, there's something wrong.

Turn off auto aim for melee and everything would be ok.

GTFO seriously. The melee takes 2 hits. I have never been killed by someone walking through my bullets ever, even with the Nova pistol.

The only way they'll walk through your bullets is if you're using a sidearm and they're in armour mode.

Learn to play instead of nerfing the game to suit you.

It's well balanced, lol! Sometimes, if I sneak upon the enemy in stealth mode, I want to assassinate them. You know, a knife in his throat. :D But it's a bit laggy/buggy, so the "press button to stealth kill" appeared when I was to far away (so I didn't press it, even if it should work, I was too surprised to klick the button). And then, as I go nearer, the "press the button" disappears (no sense, lol) and I just melee him. Then he turns and kills me 2hit with a Scar. Yep, it's OP, lol.

when doing close up combat I svck at keeping the other guy on screen so when I sneak up to melee someone, the first strike will hit but since the other dude is on the move I somehow manage to lose him off my screen most of the time. then I end up dead ofc by the same dude seconds later.
I usually succeed 1 out of 6 melee kill attempts cuz of the 2 hit rule >.<
In call of duty this wouldn't be a problem :)

There's auto-aim on the melee? Wow. Gross!

You must be one of the people that get host all of the time. For us 1-bar players, hosts DEFINITELY run through our bullets. It's maddening.

I don't get host all the time at all, but you can hardly ask for a game to be nerfed in order to compensate for your connection issues.

Well I am on PC. So I know when something is auto aiming. The melee auto aims which is why you can somehow melee someone mid air even though you do not land a hit or just panic use it(though not to great success many a time.)

A nerfing for individual connection issues would indeed be unreasonable, however, the connection issues for many have nothing to do with individual issues. The connection issues have to do with the game. Naturally, I am talking about the console version of the game. If you are one of the lucky individuals that get green bar most of the time, you are most definitely in the minority. It was extremely common for me to be placed into games with the host being the only 4-bar, maybe one or two 3-bar players & the rest being 2 or 1-bar. That's just dumb & something is wrong.

So, yes, many people probably experience melee rushers that seem to 'go through' their bullets & it's mad frustrating.

It should be a knock down move - unless power melee used

weaken the melee to about four hits and reintroduce the power melee hit!
i have a green bar most of the time and i'm host too most of the time but the lag makes it unbearable... no host advantage at all, fix the netcode! and turn of the bloody autoaim!

There shouldn't be a host advantage, as much as it can be avoided.

Melee is fine. Personally, I would like to see power melee in MP, but you'd all just moan that it was OP after somebody with energy transfer killed you.

I agree. Most of the time When I try and shoot someone meleeing me it is too little too late. If someone gets you with a melee before you notice them you are dead no matter what. But I guess that is a given anyways. I think it should be 3 melees for a kill, at least if you're in armor mode.

its funny as most of us are having connection issues only with this game... Halo Reach did a great job with their netcode (although they do have some experience but still), if the removed all aim assist then the game would be much more enjoyable and it would separate the true noobs from people who have some skill...

LOL I've experienced the same thing. I ran through the whole Lighthouse map just to get near the sniper, and when I tried to stealth-kill him, I just melee him, and he turned back and killed me with his weapon. xD

If you want no aim assist, play on PC.

Consoles need aim assist or the casuals would have absolutely no chance against the 'hardcoe' mob.

Ultimately, game developers need the casuals more than they need the minority of hardcoe players.

Gears of War has no aim assist and it does great... sure I'll play if you are willing to provide the components and game :P
Thats why the games motto or at least the first ones was 'Adapt and Survive'... how can you get any better if theres no reason to, at least make it available only to level 10 or below for the noobs
Does CoD have Aim Assist

Guys scream this in-game all the time.... This isn't a complicated fix because it doesn't need to be fixed.

If you're being melee rushed, shoot the guy in the head, you win, end of story. If you can't for some reason land a headshot, then it's a skill issue on your side, practice more.

And they all lived happily ever after.

To me that's a sack of crap and excuses, especially when it comes to lag. However, I don't play on 360/PS3 for Crysis 2 so that can be completely legitimate. won't knock it.

If you're playing on PC, my point still stands.

I don't play it on PC so your point doesn't stand! On PC its less laggier than on consoles if you pick a good match with low latency... lag is annoying because you might shoot at the person but no bullets hit...
Play crysis 2 on xbox!
