Melting body bug?

I've seen this discussed a few times, but I don't remember the issue or where to look.

I believe some of the 'melting' npcs was caused with a paralisis spell, causing them to melt.. there are a few YouTube videos on this, but my school blocked YouTube, so I can't give any links.

No, this is a "Bug", from a mod or setting, or combination thereof... :shakehead:

Stretched out bodies?

Often a sign of a mismatched skeleton.nif for creatures or NPCs.

Sometimes just a game bug...especially, from what I can tell, if you get killed repeatedly while paralyzed. Some reports that Realistic Physics and Force and/or 3rd person animations in 1st person view.

This is from the Unofficial Elder Scrolls Pages wiki (near the bottom of the page, http://www.uesp.net/wiki/Oblivion:Bugs):

Spasm Glitch
Various items in the game can become stretched and highly distorted, at which point the items may begin violently shaking and twisting. Some of these occurrences are random, but it is also possible to intentionally trigger this behavior:
  • Drag a body into an open doorway, then close the door. Single doors can cause moderate spasms; double doors are more likely to stretch the body and produce more extreme behavior. The door must be one that swings open and closed, not a loading door.
  • Attack an NPC as he/she is passing through a loading door. After the NPC activates the door, his/her body starts to fade. At that moment, cast a Paralyze spell (or attack with a weapon with a Paralyze enchantment), then kill the paralyzed NPC. The corpse will melt on the ground and can be stretched great distances.

I've seen this myself, but never to some of the extremes you can find on YouTube. It's never caused anything more than aesthetic problems, so I never really worried about it. But, YMMV...

It can also be caused in some cases by an overheated video card.

No Idea about the bug, but you can make this happen momentarily if you use "PushActorAway" with the same calling and target reference with a large value for force. They get blasted into the air, and pull themselves out into long and stringy versions of themselves, before being whipped back together again. It's quite amusing! :P

I'm trying to figure out what's the problem with my CM_Companions, this is the third game this has happened in and once with Vilja. their stats are out of wack,(most notably Fatigue~863/120) by this time they've become pretty worthless.
This is a new game, however most of the same mods, I/m only upto a level 10, my first game I made 42

Wow, those are some bizarre pics. I really don't have anything too useful, except maybe that I have had trouble with companions falling flat (sometimes floating in the air, or stuck in a wall, but always horizontal). There is a setting in Oblivion Stutter Remover (OSR) that is suspected to cause this... I can't remember what it is right now, but I believe there's something about it in the readme. For me the drop in performance was unacceptable, so I really just quit using companions (I realize this is equally unacceptable for many). I only have it installed now to support the new skin-toned mannequins.

But I digress... it almost looks to me like you've got a weird combination of that bug and the stretching/melting bug. That's just a guess. Hopefully someone more knowledgeable can suggest some things to try.

Good luck!

See, here's the problem. When you want to secretly place a spell on someone you are supposed to http://uesp.net/wiki/Oblivion:Reverse_Pickpocketing#Reverse_Pickpocketing a http://uesp.net/wiki/Oblivion:Black_Hood#Black_Hood onto them, not a http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Black_hole.

Thank'e for that, I WILL remember Not to give the Wabajack to them though...

**This generally starts with them falling flat on their faces and floating instead of walking...

Oh wow, that looks all kinds of wrong. :bolt: But strangely funny.

I wonder if this could be a sign of a corrupted skeleton? Have you tried installing this? http://tesnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=27945

Will give it a try, doubt it could make them worse...

*Don't really find a good Save to test it on, it has no effect once they begin to show any symptoms... I have almost enough time to run to IC from Cheydenhal before my oyher CM goes down...
I haven't had OSR enabled on this game at all, it's actually been running Quite smooth...

**I Do have Mayu's checked in Cash Patch, and I don't have Mayu's installed, will change that and see...

***I went all the way back to Vanila, maybe 3 mods left and Still no differance, once they start to show symptoms their doomed, prior to that it's random if they get the bug...

I've got not a clue

Redownload the file. Delete anything relating to the CM Partners mod and install the mod again. Betcha a dollar that'll work.

Actually I've already tried with two different downloads of CM_Partners, as well as Companion Vilja, and I'd already had a game to Level 42 before symptoms arose, so it will be hard to confirm, however, it doesn't hurt to try, pretty much That or give up on Partners altogether, I could always do NonEssential...
