Memory Leaks? Game ran fine, now crashes from low memory

Post » Sat Nov 28, 2015 5:59 am

Bought this game the day it came out. Played it on ultra settings for around 15-20 hours. No crashes, no issues. Very little slowdown (if any).

Then yesterday I start noticing win7 warns me of low memory when building stuff in Sanctuary. I close the alert and the game runs fine for 5-6 more hours.

Then I get a notice that it is low on memory again in sanctuary and the game crashes. Now whenever I do anything in the game, soon enough the game will warn me of low memory and crash. I get maybe an hour in. I have noticed this happening far more when I enter a new building like the

I've already lowered my setting the about as low as they can go in the config and it makes 0 difference apparently. But seeming as how I played for almost 20 hours on max setting with no problems I am wondering if Sanctuary is still having an impact on my memory even when not near it. Maybe the more stuff you build in settlements increases the memory needed by a great deal?

Any ideas would be appreciated, thanks!

Can you exit the game, and open task manager to see how much memory your system consumes without running anything ???

Go to performance tab, go down to physical memory and see how much is your Total, your Available and at the right below corner: your Physical Memory.

It could be that some applications running in background consume huge amounts of memory.

Just wanted to follow up in case anyone else is having issues.

Mark, running nothing but Steam and I guess behind the scenes programs I am at 2.33 gigs being used. 28% of my memory. Not sure if this is considered high. Seems ok.

When I opened Fallout 4 and went in game - 4.18 gb, 51%

played 20 mins in a building. Moved to outside - 60% used 5.59 gb

10 more minutes, in a new building and out, 64% 6.44 gigs

20 minutes abernathy farm, 64% 5.74

10 minues sanctuary 64% 5.45 gb

Haven't had crashes or memory problems yet. But I did increase the page file size on my computer.

Perhaps this fixed my problem. I've played a few hours since I logged this with no problems so I'll have to test more probably. But if anyone is having similar issues, this might help. Just google "increase page file size". Pretty easy to do.
