Chapter 1- Greens sons of-?
"Eddie! Eddie wake up!" someone yelled at me.
"Five more minutes?" I groaned as someone pulled the blanket of me.
"Nuh-uh. Not falling for that one. You have to get to your security training, NOW!" the annoying voice yelled at me. I sighed in defeat and opened my eyes to stare the annoying girl in the face.
"I swear if you weren't my sister and a girl I would shoot you right now, and don't call me Eddie, it's Edward."
"Good luck, you don't even have a gun yet!" my sister teased as she darted away before I could grab her, "and Eddie is so much easier to say".
This was a charade we had practiced many times before. Even though it seemed as though we hated each other we both loved one another, although neither would admit it. Emily was the best sister
I grabbed my standard issue Vault-Tec Vault Security Armor and yelled goodbye to my sister. I grabbed a bite to eat at the cafeteria and headed down to the armory.
Ever since the Generalized Occupational Aptitude Test assigned me to the Vaults Security Detail I've been training for the day I become a full-fledged member of the security team, that day is today. I've been training for 3 years, making me one of the youngest people to ever become a officer, most train for four years but I excelled in my training because of my violent upbringing running with my gang the 'Vault Dwellers'. My earlier dreams of escaping Vault 27 were being replaced with aspirations of becoming the lead officer of the Vaults Security, and I was starting to accept my hand in life, and it wasn't the adventures of the heroes from the Vaults cinema which I had seen thousands of times.
I walked down to the Security HQ and met my trainer, Senior Officer Chambers who was styling the biggest grin I've ever seen him with. It was well known he was extremely proud of me and often proclaimed that I was one of the most promising officers to ever grace the Vault.
"Your very happy today Sir" I proclaimed.
"It's not everyday I have the privilege of passing someone as promising as you" he praised, "I have your gun and badge inside, C'mon in".
I stepped into his office and he presented me with the standard 10mm pistol, baton and security badge.
"I know I'm not supposed to show you my report but I decided to bend the rules a bit just for you" he stated nervously. Because he was an officer he vary rarely broke (or in this case bended as he said) the rules and something like breaking security protocol was the equivalent of murder in his books.
He handed me a holopad which I uploaded to my trusty Pip-Boy 3000 and began to read.
//Security Offcer: Edward O'Brien//
History: Edward's parents died when he was at the age of six, leading to a very troubled childhood. At the age of 12 he fell in with a gang that called themselves the 'Vault Dwellers' and grew very accustomed to violence. Edward was a constant thorn in the side of previous Security Officers and the other children of the vault made many complaints about him. He eventually matured and with the help of his sister reformed his ways.
Combat Capability: In the unlikely event of serious combat in the Vault all Security officers are trained in extensive armed combat. Edward has excelled at this and can efficiently fight with the following weapons:
-Pistols
-Rifles
-Shotguns
Training with Assault Rifles has been met with heavy resistance by Edward because it was the weapon used to kill his parents.
Edward is cool and composed during battle training and simulations. I believe he will stay very level headed in most combat unless something reminds him of his parents which enrages him and in simulations he goes into a killing frenzy which may endanger Vault Citizens, although this occurs rarely.
Weaknesses: Mental stability is doubtful, resistance to all Assault Rifle's limits his arsenal.
Capabilty: 10/10
-Senior Officer Chambers
//END TAPE//
I was relatively pleased with the report apart from the mental instability. I told Officer Chambers I was finished reading and he continued.
"Your first patrols start tomorrow and you have the rest of the day of to celebrate. Congratulations Eddie, your one of us-" Officer Chambers was cut off by a loud shreak from the Vaults Speakers.
An automated message started playing on the speakers, "ALL CITIZENS OF VAULT 27 REPORT TO YOUR RESPECTIVE ROOMS FOR LOCKDOWN. THIS IS NOT A DRILL. SECURITY DETAIL ARE TO HEAD TO SECTOR 1A, MAIN ENTRANCE. THIS IS NOT A DRILL".
One look at Senior Officer Chambers face told me something was wrong as he received reports from his Pip-Boy. I switched mine on and was greeted by a loud screaming and the sounds of guns firing. Suddenly the noise stopped and a voice came online.
"This is Junior Officer Patterson. We need backup at the gate! There is a breach at the main gate! [censored] get up here there-theres some huge [censored] green sons of-..." the line went dead and the room was engulfed in a sudden silence.
We did what we were trained to do. We ran up there.
As soon as the elevator doors opened we regretted it. A huge green thing was talking to another one. We froze in terror.
"Stupid HUMANS!" one said to the other.
"Mabe we find more good goo NOW!"
"The human probby hab heeeeeeeepss"
"They r to stuped to used et!"
"HAHAHAHAHAH!!! You r rite"
What were these things? Then I noticed the broken down gear shaped door which had been crippled by an explosion of some sort. They were from the outside world. The place I had once dreamed of going was starting to seem very foreign.
One of the green things turned around and spotted us. He was injured from some of the security teams 10mm rounds although they probably didn't do anything. I did the only reasonable thing I could do and pressed the elevator button to go down before he could perforate the elevator with his massive Minigun he held in one hand. Just as it closed I heard the noidse I was dreading, the rotating of the barrel as it prepared to fire. The elevator just moved down before he could shoot but the bullets still served to do something. They cut the power lines above the elevator and it jolted to a sudden holt.
This was a predicament.
We, the only remaining security to protect the citizens were stuck in a elevator. Above us were two, huge, hulking, Minigun-wielding killers, and they would destroy the entire Vault if we couldn't get out.
Even if we could get out could we stop them? My thoughts suddenly flashed to my sister being torn apart by those massive hands and I knew I had to find out.
//End Chapter 1//
Peace out my Homie-G E-Thugs.
