Hey guys!

Was about to start roleplaying as a mercenary, but i'm unsure about what a mercenary actually is. I know it's someone who does jobs for pay, but do they have any morals Good/evil? Or do they just care about the pay.

What kinda quests do you think mercenarys would or wouldn't take, and what races do you think is the best for a mercenary play through.

Oh and don't get them confused with assassins

Depends on the Mercenary.

Since you have unlimited bounties thanks to Radiant AI you'll never lack for work. I'd also consider most of the general quests yo ufind in town as merc work. (gneral problem solver type of stuff.)

They tend to get repetitive though. Also you should never take radiant quests from Jarl Skald cause it's broken.

well every quest in skyrim is linear. *shrugs* Oh so Skald is broken no wonder why I still have it marked in my journal totalk to him about the bounty thaty I already turned into him.

What race would make a good mercenary?

He still rewards you, but if you keep taking it you'll end up seeing infinite number of those in the journal as well as a number of quest target markers. It apparently can lead to crashes, although I wasn't game enough to try.

Race doesn't matter, but if yo uwant to RP it? I'd say Orc's and Nords would be your most common Merc's in skyrim.

Imperial should be the best, cause they tend to get rewareded the most.

Any race could be a merc.

technically everythnig you do is mercenry, every quest has a reward, you get all sorts of mercenaries in the real world, those who will do anything, and those who are bound by morals and codes.

jsut sit an the inn until some wanderer comes in, kicks over a load of stuff by accident, uses the cooking pot without asking, and then speak to him, and then ask him if he wants your services while he goes to save the wrodl from the rumoured dragon threat.

Be sure to commit a lot of war crimes! That's what mercenaries were remembered for when they were still around.

There are plenty of Mercs still around. Just look at all the hundreds of "private security" firms around.

Redguard looks coo, plus it'll give me the feel as an outsider . They do make for good warriors don't they?

Redguard, if you want some fitting comments from Hadvar at the start. Any race will do though.

Most of the quests in the game will fit with mercenaries since most offer payment. I also think the Companions should be your main faction.

True. Once watched a documentary about South African "private security firms"... They were pretty much vigilantes with shotguns.
