Merge Objects recommendation for mods

Post » Tue May 17, 2011 2:31 am

While rerunning Morrowind again, I remembered last time I tried to merge objects on TES Tool, but ran into some NPCs dying error. But it was recommended somewhere that if I have mods that modify the same objects, I should merge them using merge objeects.

For the NPCs dying part, I searched the forums and found out that there will be some NPCs that will have 0 HPs upon merging, and there are some ways by Dragon32 and others to counter these. Now the question is upon running TESPCD, there is some conflicts on it also particularly on expanded sounds, etc (though I do not really understasnd what TESPCD conflict dector says on). Would like to ask is there any mods that I should aviod merging objects on?

I remember there some posts on mods that I should avoid, but given the enew mods these few years is there a list that list all these?

I believe Darknut has stated that Darknut's Greater Dwemer Ruins should not be included in the Merged Objects.

I don't recall seeing a list of others, but the info will surely be mentioned in the ReadMe if this restriction applies to them.

Confirmed. That mod shouldn't even be altered with any tool, because it would definitely break the mod.

Although I would take it with a large chunk of salt (also not inspiring confidence: the header talks about "cleaning", which is a) something completely different, and b ) even for that I'd doubt that it's correct) - esp. the inclusion of balancing mods in this list. On the contrary - imho weapon/armour/spell etc. balancers are the best examples of plugins that *profit* from merging. The same applies to the Unofficial Patch. Of course check some examples in TESTool.log to make sure that the correct changes from several mods are retained.

PirateLord's Creatures do belong in this list, though.
