Merge plugin files

Post » Tue Mar 30, 2010 7:04 am

Ok im really new with the geck and i just have a quick question.
Lets say, for example, i download 2 mods, one adds a weapon and the other one adds an armor, is there any way to have only one .esp file that contains both things?
I know its just a noob question but i couldnt find an answer searching in the forums

Thanks for the reply, so if im right, after creating the merged patch, i can delete all the other mods and i can open it with geck and i will be able to modify and use everything from the other mods?

The current manual for Fo3Edit can be found in my sig, which will show you complete instructions. A newer, better version is under development and should be released this Friday or Sunday. Until then, the current manual may be of assistance.

"Create Merged Patch" doesn't merge plugins, merely certain record types like Form Lists. Merging plugins that one can take the place of many is a different process entirely.

thats what i meant, i downloaded a guide from fo3nexus. If i understood it correctly, the merged patch creates references between the plugin files, but what i want to do is put them together in a single .esp file that i can edit with the geck and then play with only that plugin. Im not sure if thats possible, this was the original question but probably i didnt explain it correctly

It's possible, but not via a merged patch. What you're after is a single plugin that will replace the other two. As Miax said, the new *Edit manual will be out soon and it has a fleshed out chapter on merging and even a lab which goes through the motions. Objectively, I'd wait 'til then and just keep 'em separate for now. If you really don't want to wait, try looking for similar subjects in the FO3 GECK board.

"Merge BORG Enterprse" for instance, should lead you to an informative thread.

No prob. Hopefully you'll not have any problems. http://www.gamesas.com/index.php?/topic/1044545-team-work-flow-for-geck-modders/page__p__15188816__hl__BORG%20Merge%20Enterprise__fromsearch__1&#entry15188816's the thread I was talking about. Might help in the interim.

I just want to say that i found how to do exactly what i wanted to do in Miax`s Tome of FO3Edit , i was looking in the wrong section of that guide, i got confused with the merged patch thing but after reading this part ("6.4 Merging a Plug-in into another Plug-in or Master"), its clear
btw its a really nice guide, i will download the new version as soon as its released
