Merged topics: console can't transfer saves on skyrim remast

Post » Thu Jul 07, 2016 9:22 pm

I don't understand why pc players can but console players can't has bethesda ever heard of the cloud? Because in other games on xbox one i can transfer saves to the remastered version from my xbox 360 an example of this would be borderlands pre sequel and borderlands 2.

Of course they have. Every company that makes AAA games have heard of the cloud. If they don't use it, it's for a reason that has to do with money. I swear, some people treat game companies as either incompetent boobs or an evil entity out to treat people like garbage.

Companies stay in the black for being smart. That means what ever reason they have for not using the Cloud has to do with finances. Not because they don't know what's going on.

Because Skyrim on PS3 and XBOX One are differently coded and not compatible with the present models of PS4 and XBOX One.

Simple as that...

What on earth do PC gamers have do with what Valve and/or Bethesda decide to allow or not allow via their servers?! You think PC gamers have some kind of magical grip or influence over gamers, Bethesda, Xbox Ones or the universe in general?!

You're losing the plot. Seriously, your bizaare jealously is making you look completely unhinged.

If you have nothing useful to add but some insults - whether it is to a forum poster, or a dev or whatever, it is still an insult.

Has there been any comment on if it will be possible to import old 360 save files to use with the Special Edition? I would rather just continue the save that I'm currently playing on 360, I don't have 400 hours to start from scratch. I don't see why this would be difficult at all to be usable on the Xbox One Special Edition of Skyrim. I am PRAYING that Bethesda somehow makes it possible and/or somebody out there can create some kind of tool to make this possible?

Nope, thus far, no such option exists. Bethesda expect us all to start over from scratch.

And, as you know, Mods disable Achievements and will give you a separate save file for modded play and saves.

Same as Fallout 4 in that regard.

I don't envy your job, Leydenne.

To reiterate what I said, you can do it on numerous games like GTA V, Destiny and Terraria, but currently Bethesda are being lazy.

Mark5917 is correct, but that doesn't make it impossible, only a bit more difficult to organise.

I do not relish the idea of starting over when I have 4 or 5 characters on my 360 and several thousands hours played.

What do those games have to do with a new version of Skyrim? So what if they are on the same console, are they the same games, the same textures, the same models, the same... ?

One game being able to transfer data between consoles means precisely nothing when it comes to a different game and company altogether.

Because you downloaded the patches to enabling cross-save between the two consoles.

Cross save works on the PS4 as well, but not all games supporting it. Skyrim isn't supported due to how the games were coded.

The data structure is entirely different on Xbox 360 and PS3 vs Xbox One and PS4.

Sorry, but i can't give you a better answer on this...

It's not the best answer because it's not the correct answer, how the game was coded has nothing to do with it, it's just whether the company thinks it's worth the time and effort or not.

Also the Special Edition will be supporting mods which brings in a lot more information that the game save has to keep track off. Likely the 360/PS3 version of the game might not added the extra information to handle mods.

-------------------------------------

Many PC users will likely have to start from scratch if they are using mods in the 32 bit version of the game because it is not a good idea to play with a modded character with missing mods. It might take quite some time to get the mods to the 64 bit version if some of the mods are using SKSE since it is likely going to take some time to get SKSE working and to add all the features it has at the moment.

You mean a modded save transferred to Xbox One?

This is Ludacris! A save file of over 400 hours down the drain?!?!?!

Not at all. Your current save file will still work perfectly fine on your Xbox 360.

No but the game save created on the 360 might be missing some information to be able to support mods. The game save structure might be different and it might be difficult to convert that game save to the Xbox One. Remember none of the games on the Xbox One support mods except for Fallout 4.

Xbox One and PS4 will be able to support mods and that requires a game save that will be able to support that. Quite often it is best to start with a new character when using mods anyway.

I have no issue with starting a new character, I do it all the time that for me is an indication that I love the game. If you do not want to lose that character then you still have it on the 360 or PS3. Most likely the PC version will be able to work especially if the game save was playing the vanilla game

There is another way I am sure if the tool was developed. In most cases we don't need the save file transfered IF a new character was created to look like the one on the old system and then have their stats tweaked and relevant quests ticked off as done, by some kind of adjustment software......just a thought. In otherwords....build a save file to match.

But it would need specific development to create such a tool! And there is no will to do that!

*sigh*

You missed my point, which was directly pointed at the fact that a player's 400 hours of progress in Skyrim will not be lost in any way.

If you are just here to create "lynch mobs" you might find yourself being removed from discussions soon.

Just chill out. :icecream:

Pluto

You seem to be using a circular reasoning here.......

That Bleakwail will not lose his xbox 360 save of 400 hours....because he can use it on an xbox360.

That does not address the real issue for him.....or as it happens, me....since I also have a long term game that is, lets say irreplaceable.

Ok....heres the problem,

Xbox 360 are no longer in production (wef Apr 16) , getting a new one to replace a broken unit will become increasingly very hard.

In time...even decent second hand units will be rare.....maybe impossible to source

If you have a very serious LONG term play and your 360 starts playing up.....you need to transfer that save to a new machine = XB1

But.....the new XB1 won't run vanilla old Skyrim.....its not backwards compatible.....so your precious save has to be transferred to the new version of Skyrim on XB1 (SSE)......but it can't.

So...yes.....you lose 400 hours (or whatever) of precious irreplaceable save. Even keeping a save in the M$ cloud is of no value without an X360 to load it into.

In my own case my "Char" is growing and developing and having her biography written as she goes along. Simply restarting is not possible since I cannot 'unwind' her growth for a fresh restart.

Think of it like this Pluto.......say you are keeping a video record of (for arguments sake) your child's growth from birth, through schooling, and into young advlthood. But....in the meantime the video format changes from tapes to discs. Suddenly your video camera breaks down.....you can't play the old tapes anymore and have to use the new format.

All the prized early footage is now effectively lost, because it cannot be viewed. The new video manufacturer can only advise you redoing your video story!!! How are you going to make your kid back into a baby and start again......you can't. The film is lost......the save....is lost.

For us the problem is the incompatibility between the xbox360 save and the new SSE save format. It can not just be ported over as I understand it.

I made a suggestion that will never be adopted, but involved creating a tool to change the new save data, setting the skill levels and recorded 'quests completed' manually to match what was had on the old Xbox360 save. That would allow at least continuation with the important progress recreated. Just an idea. Failing that....I just don't know (shrug)

But.....you see the nature of the problem for some of us.

Any ideas gratefully received.......

Funnybunny....well....

That's a maybe!

If its HDD failure you have really to be a guru to attempt save recovery from a xbox drive....or pay handsomely for it....

At best you might get it going again, but you are no better off.....just waiting for the next breakdown.
